Overview
Jalapadevi Secondary School (जाल्पादेवी माध्यमिक विद्यालय, सिन्धुपाल्चोक) was founded in 1959 AD (2016 BS) as a community based educational institution, which is situated in Melamchi-2, Jaisigaun, Sindhupalchok, Nepal. It is affiliated to the National Examination Board (NEB) and approved by the Ministry of Education. It offers educational programs from ECD to Grade 10 and plus two programs under Management, Humanities, and Education stream.
Jalpadevi Secondary School is 35 km from the capital city of Kathmandu. It is located in the northeastern part. Located about 15 km west of Chautara, the district headquarters of Sindhupalchok district, this school has turned east by observing the snow-capped mountains and hills at different heights.
Jalapa Devi Secondary School, Sindhupalchok provides up to secondary level education with moderate fee structures and also provides a scholarship scheme for financially weak and deserving students.
Dalits and Janajatis also live in the school service area where there is a predominance of Brahmins in the service area of the school. The various castes here believe in Hinduism and Buddhism and believe in their own customs, dress, religion, culture, and traditions. Due to the development of information and communication in the present age of science and technology, people are attracted to the modern lifestyle.
The main sources of income are agriculture, vegetable farming, dairy trade, animal husbandry, trade, and services. Some service sector youths have gone abroad for employment due to a lack of self-employment. In terms of linguistic integration, Nepali is the medium of instruction and the official language of most of the residents, and even though the people of the Tamang community use their mother tongue, Tamang, the language is not included in school education.
