1. WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST
Responsibilities:
The Wildlife Biologist will be responsible for all field-based research and monitoring activities focusing mainly on species, habitat, and ecosystem conservation and management using standardized research methodologies, analysis of field data, publication of research findings and maintenance of database, and the efficient coordination and networking with WWF global network and other national and international partner institutions in matters related to conservation science. The position is responsible for tracking the implementation of the wildlife-related project in coordination with the landscape team and providing input, logic, and rationale in new project design.
Qualifications:
A Master's (Preferably Ph.D.) in Wildlife Biology, Conservation Biology, Environmental Science, or related Natural Sciences with at least five years of experience in the country in conservation is required. It is essential that the candidate is technically proficient and qualified in the field of wildlife biology. The position requires a person with commitment and motivation, willing to travel frequently in the field, and abilities to develop wildlife research programs and analyze findings. Knowledge of the R package, Population Modeling, GIS skills, Project Management will be an added advantage. S/he should possess strong communication skills both written and spoken in Nepali and English. S/he should have the ability to work under pressure situations, especially in terms of output deliveries on deadlines.
2. PROGRAM ASSOCIATE - CLIMATE & ENERGY
Major Responsibilities:
The Program Associate will support in areas related to vulnerability and risk assessment, climate change adaptation, renewable energy, and other sectors relevant to climate change in Nepal. S/he will be involved in implementing, reporting, and documenting lessons on WWF's Nepal's Climate and Energy projects and activities in the field. The candidate will work with all thematic goals and cross-cutting themes of WWF. This position requires travel to remote areas both in the Terai and Mountains.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management (NRM), Development Studies, Forestry, or other related disciplines with at least two years of experience in implementing projects related to climate change. Proven experience in working with local governments, civil society, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and NRM institutions will be an added advantage. This position requires strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and keep track of priorities. S/he should be a self-starter with the ability to take initiative as needed and work well under minimal supervision. Good facilitation skills and communication skills including written and spoken English and Nepali are required.
