Position:

Under the leadership of the Family Welfare Division (FWD), Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), UNFPA co-chairs the Reproductive Health Sub-cluster to promote a coordinated response for the continuation of life-saving essential sexual and reproductive health services, including maternal and newborn health care and family planning and supplies at the federal and sub-national level, under the devolved governance structure.

UNFPA as a co-lead also supports regular data collection in the form of 5Ws1 and performance management of the RH sub-cluster through regular reporting mechanism and data collection and dissemination within an existing template.

UNFPA also aims to support the HMIS and LMIS Section of the FWD/Management Division in analyzing the key RMNCAH related indicators and family planning (FP) and maternal and neonatal health (MNH) both at the federal and provincial level (7 provinces) based on the routine data collected through the HMIS. In this context, UNFPA requires an IMO for the RH Sub-cluster to assist with the cluster data collection, analysis and reporting.

Core functions of the IMO are:

i) support to manage the UNFPA SRH IMS to document information related to the status of SRH services and engagement of partners in response to the COVID-19 health crisis and monsoon in affected areas,

ii) assist in capacity development of government and partners on the SRH IMS,

iii) assisting in information gathering, analysis and interpretation of SRH-related data for effective programme planning and knowledge management, and

iv) support in programme monitoring and preparation of reports.

The IMO-RH will be based in the UNFPA Nepal Country Office in Kathmandu and will be responsible for supporting the data and information management, and analysis under the reproductive health (RH) Sub-cluster. Operating under the direct supervision of the M&E Team Lead, the IMO will support the effective management of information systems and data analysis under the SRH responses to COVID-19 in Nepal.

The IMO will maintain collaborative relationships with the government line ministries and departments, civil society constituents, the United Nations funds, programmes and specialized agencies and other development organizations.

Eligibility:

A Master's degree in Information Management systems, Public Health, Demography, Statistics, Sociology, Social Work or other social science is required. Up to two years of professional experience in information management, programme development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Knowledge of women's health and/other related development concerns linked to UNFPA mandate. Work experience in the UN or other international development organizations is an asset. Excellent information and database management and data analysis, reporting and presentation skills. Excellent oral and written skills in English and Nepali. Excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills. Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing. Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Excel, and monitoring tools, email/internet; fully conversant with information or database management; Ability to liaise, coordinate and manage communications within UNFPA, and diplomatically across the UN system and RH Sub-cluster in relation to SRH. Past experience in Emergency and Humanitarian Response is an asset.
