Tanahu Hydropower Limited Vacancy for Environmental Expert: Second Date of Publication with Extension of Time for Application

THL is currently seeking an Environmental Expert to lead its Environmental and Social Management Unit (ESMU) for the Tanahu Hydropower Project.
About THL and the Tanahu Hydropower Project
THL is the executing agency (EA) of the Tanahu Hydropower Project, which is being fully undertaken by Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). The project is funded by Nepal Government, NEA, and with loan support from Asian Development Bank (ADB), European Investment Bank (EIB) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The Tanahu project is a reservoir project under construction that presents a range of environmental and social challenges to be addressed by the project.
Responsibilities of the Environmental Expert
The Environmental Expert will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of environmental and social safeguard issues and plans for the Tanahu Hydropower Project. This includes planning, coordinating, designing, reviewing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the project's social and environmental safeguards measures.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate for this position should have an extensive background in project management covering technical, environmental, social, and managerial skills. The candidate should have a master's degree in environment, forestry, biology, botany, zoology, or a related field. The candidate should preferably have at least 12 years of relevant professional experience in an officer-level position in a governmental or any national or international organization registered as per the government of Nepal. The candidate should also have experience and expertise in developing and implementing environmental and social management plans and/or systems under ADB/EIB or any international donor funded project working with their safeguard policies in hydropower projects.
Reporting Line and Terms of Reference

Salary and Other Benefits
The selected candidate will be assigned to position level -10 as defined in the company rules. The salary and other benefits will be as per the company rules and regulations. The selected candidate will be offered a 1-year contract, which may be extended based on their performance.
