The Right to Information Act, 2064, established the National Information Commission to protect, promote, and implement the right to information. According to Section 11 of this Act, the Commission comprises one Chief Information Commissioner and two Information Commissioners, making up a three-member body (with at least one female member).
As the term of the current office holders is nearing completion, a recommendation committee, formed under Section 11, Subsection (3) of the Right to Information Act, has decided to call for applications from eligible and interested candidates for the appointment of suitable individuals to these vacant positions.
Qualified candidates, as per the Right to Information Act, 2064, are invited to submit their applications with personal details and certified copies of the qualifications mentioned below to the Secretariat of the Recommendation Committee, Rastriya Suchana Aayog, Tripureshwar, Kathmandu, by 2081/07/13 within office hours.
Qualifications:
To be eligible for the positions of Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioner, candidates must meet the following criteria:
(a) Must be a Nepalese citizen.
(b) Must have at least a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
(c) Must have a minimum of 15 years of experience in the fields of mass communication, law, justice, public administration, information technology, or management.
(d) Must be under 65 years of age.
(e) Must not be disqualified under Section 13 of the Act.
