Nepal Water and Energy Development Corporation (NWEDC) ("Company") is currently developing the 216 MW Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project (UT-1 H.PP) ("Project") on the Trisha River in Rasuwa District in Bagmati Province of Nepal, approximately 70 kilometers northeast of Kathmandu. The Project is being financed by a Lender's consortium consisting of multilateral international lenders.
As per the requirement of the financing documents, NWEDC is required to build its environmental and social (E&S) capacity by bringing in an International Level Environment and Social Safeguard Director who is familiar with ADB, World Bank, and IFC E&S requirements and good international industry practices (GBP) to head the Environment and Social Sustainability and External Relations Unit to manage environmental, social, labor and human resources, occupational health and safety and external communications at NWEDC's level.
The prospective candidate should have at least 15 years of progressive experience in this sector with a reasonable period of managerial experience and experience in managing complex projects involving large-scale construction and associated environmental and social issues both in Nepal and well as internationally.
