Nick Simons Institute (NSI) is an organization with a mission to innovate solutions in rural healthcare — through training, hospital support. and advocating for healthcare workers with the government of Nepal since its establishment in 2006. NSI is a solo counterpart of Nick Simons Foundation International (NSFI), NY USA and jointly works in the programs related to strengthening the skills of healthcare workers, and improve health services available to remote and rural communities. As the programs grow. to ensure accountability and measure the outputs of the programs so that outlined outcomes are achieved with the allocated resources, NSI seeks qualified and suitable candidates for the following positions:

1. Position: MD in General Practice

  • Required No.: 4 (Four)
  • Workstation: NSI-designated Government Hospital
  • Term: 1 year
Minimum Requirements:
  • MDGP graduate with valid NIV1C registration.
  • Competent in rural surgeries, energetic and ready to work in a rural setting in a government hospital.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Work in government hospital as a MDGP
  • Act as clinical coordinator to take clinical leadership in the hospital.
  • Perform lifesaving emergency surgeries like C-section, Appendectomy, Herniorrhaphy, Hydrocele correction etc.
  • Manage Obstetric Complications.
  • Coordinate with Medical Superintendent, Hospital Chairperson, and other key stake holders for improvement of clinical services of the hospital as per requirement.
  • Conduct regular internal CME within the hospital.

2. Position: Research Officer

  • Required No. 1 (one)
  • Workstation: NSI Center Office
  • Term: 1 year
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in public health. epidemiology, biostatics, or other health related discipline with at least 5 years and 3 years' experience respectively focused on research.
  • Proficiency in data analysis statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, NVivo and have ability to critically review and interpret scientific literature.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise knowledge and experience of monitoring, evaluation and learning practices and approaches in INGOsiNG0s.
  • A track record of research paper write ups and publications in peer-reviewed journals would be an added value.
  • A strong understanding of Nepal health system and health-related issues and challenges is essential.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Identify gaps and propose research topics and develop proposals and conduct research studies with MEL and program team.
  • Synthesize and analyze periodic project data to measure progress, contribution and impacts against the project targets.
  • Write-up research findings in the form of reports, briefs, and articles in peer-reviewed journals in national and international journals.
  • Support on implementation of NSI MEL Plan by applying appropriate program data collection and management approach and techniques.
