National Federation of the Disabled Nepal (NFDN) is the national umbrella organization of persons with disabilities representing more than 335 member organizations throughout the country. NFDN is seeking qualified personnel for the following position to work in its province offices and federal office:
Surkhet (Karnali province), Butwal (Province 5) and Kathmandu (Federal office)
1. POSITION: PROGRAM OFFICER
Number of Staff Needed: 1
Duty Station: NFDN’s Province Office – Surkhet with frequent field visit too as the need for programs and project
Required qualification, skills, and experiences
- At least Bachelor degree in any discipline (with preference to Management, Sociology or disability study)
- At least 2 years of working experience in NGO sector-leading position. (experience on disability-related program management or implementation will be preferred)
- Having experience or interested to work in community level
- Strong communication, coordination, and team-building skills
- Strong knowledge of proposal writing, program planning, monitoring and reporting
- Good enough capacity to understand and speak in English speaking and writing
- Good enough capacity to speak and write in Nepali language (ability to speak other local languages will be preferred).
- Good knowledge and skill in data and information collection, documentation and presentation with the appropriate format.
- Good knowledge of disability, its new dimensions, rights-based approach, disability-related international legal framework, CRPD, disability-specific laws and policies, Sustainable Development Goals, etc.
- Good computer skills in operating basic computer programs such as MS office packs with email and internet handling.
- Skillful in searching for information on the internet, operating social media, making news and activity reports when needed.
- Knowledge and experience of day to day office operation, administrative work, document verification, organizing meeting, writing minutes, record keeping, staff monitoring, etc.,
Key duties and responsibilities
- Work as the key focal person of the provincial office of NFDN under the supervision and monitoring of the federal office of NFDN.
- Lead overall management and day to day operation of programs, projects of province office
- Support province office to develop program/project proposal, organize a meeting with partners and present the proposal.
- Prepare a Program/project implementation plan for the province office and ensure that the plan is implemented effectively.
- Support to develop the capacities member Disabled Peoples Organizations (DPOs) of a respective province in advocacy, good governance, leadership, participation in close coordination with the province committee.
- Enhance the capacity of NFDN’s province office in terms of its effective management, good governance, and performance.
- Lead the day to day administrative work of the province office, documentation, document verification, record keeping, staff mobilization, and staff monitoring
- Produce annual reports of province-level programs, periodic project or activity report and submit to the relevant agencies (such as board, partners, government agencies, etc.)
- Monitor the project activities and guide the project staffs as per the observation
- Support the province committee for making advocacy plans and strategies, implementation, documentation, and follow-up.
- Produce report, news, case studies and publish in the official website and social media of NFDN in the consensus of federal office.
- Work other jobs as designated by the federal or province committee.
2. POSITION: PROGRAM ASSISTANT
Number of Staff: 1 Duty Station: NFDN’s Province Office – Butwal with a frequent field visit to as the need for programs and project
Required qualification, skills, and experiences
- Completed Minimum 10+2 or equivalent with an accounting background.
- Good Skill and knowledge of filing, recording keeping, and account keeping
- The good verbal and written skills of communication in Nepali.
- Fluent in computer typing in Nepali and English (Including Unicode)
- Good in handling basic computer programs (Ms. Word, Excel, Powerpoint), email and internet
- Persons having skill and knowledge of account keeping will be in priority
- Having good knowledge of disability issues and disability-specific laws and policies
- A person having working experience in the disability field will be in priority
- Skill and knowledge of drafting and dispatching letters
Key duties and responsibilities
- Work as the main supporting hand of the program officer, provincial president, secretary, and treasurer for their day to day office business.
- Handle the secretarial works (handling reception desk, delivering a message, managing meeting schedule, drafting a letter, entering data and typing report or documentation, keeping records, filing, etc.) as per the guidance and direction of program officer or province board
- Do official communication as per the guidance and consultation of program officer and board
- Provide counseling and disability-related information to the visitors and beneficiaries who come to the office for the same purpose.
- Support for account keeping of all financial activities and collection of necessary supporting documents.
- Carry out the work related to banking (deposit and collection of cheque or cash, collection of different bank statements, etc.) and letter dispatching.
- Support to the program officer and board member for management while conducting training, orientation, advocacy meetings, interaction, workshops
3. POSITION: ACCOUNT OFFICER
Number of Staff: 1
Duty Station: NFDN’s Federal Office – Kathmandu with field visit too as the need for programs and project
Required qualification, skills, and experiences
- At least a bachelor degree in management or financial accounting or business studies.
- At least two years’ experience in the relevant filed.
- Very good working experience in handling accounting software.
- Very good working experience in budgetary control, financial planning, and budgeting.
- Experience in leading the financial account keeping, handing accounting software.
- Very good skill of account keeping in the standard accounting system.
- Sound Knowledge in budgetary control and financial planning.
- Very good knowledge and skills in handling computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Good skills in using the internet and email.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in both English and Nepali language.
- Positive attitudes towards disability and persons with disabilities.
- Have the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality concerning a financial document
Key duties and responsibilities
- Manage the NFDN’s central financial accounting system as per the financial guidelines and the provision mentioned in the constitution of NFDN.
- Manage the financial and accounting system of a project for the project.
- Prepare the annual budget, expenditure details and complete financial status of a project and submit to the treasurer, admin manager, and other relevant authorities as needed.
- Prepare the monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual financial reports and submit to concern authority and stakeholders according to the organization’s policy and partnership agreement.
- Take the responsibility of petty cash management and keeping up-to-date records of its expenditure.
- Ensure financial management of the project according to financial and administration policy, partnership agreement approved plan and budget. In this regard, up-to-date records of financial transactions of project activities should be kept.
- As per the requirement and budget availability, procure necessary goods according to organizational policy, also keeping an up-to-date record of the expenditures.
- Make the accounting system of NFDN scientific, transparent and smooth through computerized systems and strengthen the financial mechanism.
- Produce all financial details and reports of projects as per the need of the organization.
- Support project coordinator in planning and preparing annual/detail budget of the project.
- Maintain inventory of office properties; maintaining personal file records, leaves, and project planning records.
- Support in internal and external financial audits.
- Prepare the budget for new projects to be submitted to different agencies or partners as per need.
- Ensure that, all necessary supporting documents related to each financial transaction such as income and expenditure, payable and receivable, assets and properties, etc. are available and the legal compliances of each document are ensured in line with the system developed by the organization, financial provisions guided by the constitution of NFDN, financial guidelines of organization and national laws and rules.
- Update the bank balance of bank accounts of the organization and make bank reconciliation every month.
- Update the financial status of the organization every month.
- Get all the financial transactions of the organization audited within every fiscal year according to the constitution and financial guidelines of the organization.
- Promote good governance in the financial activities of NFDN.
- Perform other activities related to financial transactions as assigned.
