Lutheran World Federation (LWF Nepal) has been implementing different programs/projects in Nepal since 1984 benefitting marginalized communities such as Dalits, Santhals, Mushars, and Haliyas through socio-economic empowerment and rights-based approach. It focuses on sustainable livelihoods, quality services, and protection and social cohesion contributing to amplifying the voices and participation of the communities in accessing services and entitlements.

For efficient and effective delivery of the project’s resources and services allocated to the direct beneficiaries, LWF Nepal has different innovative pathways to capacitate the frontline workers among which one is through mobilizing national and international volunteers. Therefore, LWF Nepal would like to hire a coordinator to execute the volunteer program.

General:

  • Familiarize and work in accordance with the Vision, Mission, Overall Goals, and Objectives of LWF as a Humanitarian and Development Organization.
  • Familiarize and work in accordance with the Policies, Manuals, and Guidelines of LWF Nepal.
  • Familiarize and work in accordance with the established strategies of LWF Nepal and the partner organizations.
  • Be free from the political influence of any parties and political activities.

Duties and responsibilities:

The coordinator oversees and facilitates the Young Adults volunteer program and has overall responsibility for the management of volunteers from the national and international level, support, and guidance during their term of service, and thus plays the administrative role by coordinating with international donors at LWF system.

The coordinator, in consultation with staff of the international donor including ELCA, has the primary role in making strategic decisions for effective management of volunteer program and risk analysis and management. The coordinator will be responsible for action research, knowledge management, and publication of the innovation and best practices of LWF Nepal program from its target communities mainly freed Haliyas, Kamaiyas, Bhutanese Refugees, Santhals, Musahars, and people with disabilities (PwDs), and disseminate for new projects and funding opportunities at the global level.

The coordinator is responsible for the goals of the youth volunteer program through the implementation of whole program cycle components. Carry out other duties assigned/requested by the Supervisor/ or LWF Management

Supervisory responsibility: None

Experience and skills:

  • Minimum Master Degree in a relevant field including philanthropic, social entrepreneurship, and volunteerism with at least 5 years of relevant experience in the American volunteer program.
  • International experiences of working with the LWF Nepal system and its related agencies.
  • Strong experience in action research and documentation of best practices at the global level
  • Strong skills in networking for exploring new funding opportunities for the organization at a global level
  • At least 5 years’ experience in international service.
  • Experience working with young adult volunteers from the USA.
  • Group leadership skills, including mentoring young adults.
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and personnel management skills; experience in financial management
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity and personal resiliency
  • Ability to work collaboratively with international funding organizations, local leadership, and non-governmental organizations for the volunteer program
  • Advanced computer skills
