Helen Keller International Vacancy Announcement: Project Officer and Field Officer

Helen Keller International, an international non-profit organization (INGO), works to improve the lives of the vulnerable by combating the causes and consequences of blindness, poor health, and malnutrition through public health approaches. The organization is committed to policy changes through systems strengthening and operations research. Applications are invited from interested, committed, dynamic team players and experienced Nepali nationals for the following positions:

Project Officer

  • Location: Country Office, Kathmandu
  • Number of Positions: 1

Summary of Job Purpose:

  • Provide crucial support to the Project Lead in planning, designing, supervision, and monitoring of project activities.
  • Maintain close coordination with governmental divisions such as the Family Welfare Division (FWD) and the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DFTQC), as well as provincial stakeholders and working partners at project sites.
  • Support the Project Lead in organizing training sessions, workshops, meetings, and field visits at both provincial and municipal levels.
  • Support the capacity building of Field Officers and partner NGO staff on various programs.

Educational Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in public health or nutrition is required, with preference given to candidates holding a master’s degree in public health or nutrition.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in nutrition/health sectors, especially in the management of acute malnutrition.
  • Experience in NGO partner mobilization is preferred.

Field Officer

  • Location: Nawalparasi West and Dang
  • Number of Positions: 2

Summary of Job Purpose:

  • Coordinate with Health Offices and Municipalities for the smooth implementation of project activities.
  • Provide essential administrative support to the Project Coordinator, aiding in the overall management of project activities.
  • Assist with program planning, scheduling, and documentation to ensure smooth organization and execution of activities.
  • Facilitate communication among stakeholders, schedule and coordinate meetings, and ensure timely sharing of relevant information.
  • Assist in preparing program reports and communicate program status to the Project Coordinator.

Educational Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in public health, with preference given to candidates with Health Assistant backgrounds.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in nutrition/health sectors at the district level, especially in managing acute malnutrition programs.
  • Experience in NGO partner mobilization and community mobilization.
  • Prior work experience in respective provinces/districts is preferred.
