The ADB-Nepal Resident Mission (NRM) was established to assist its Headquarters in the implementation of projects and programs, in project processing, country programming, and economic and sector work. It also coordinates ADB's activities with other resident diplomatic and donor missions, NGOs, academic institutions, local think tanks, the private sector, and other members of the civil society.
Position: Senior Project Officer (Transport)
Description of Responsibilities
The Senior Project Officer (Transport) contributes to the Nepal Resident Mission (NRM) by supporting and/or leading loan/technical assistance (TA) processing and administration, portfolio management, sector work, and other general sector activities, with focus on transport sector, both, if applicable for public and private sector operations. The incumbent will report to designated international staff (IS) and will supervise administrative staff (AS).
Selection Criteria
Specific criteria include
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related infrastructure and management fields, preferably with master's degree or equivalent;
- At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in project management and implementation, with preferably at least 3 years experience in the transport sector, and at least 4 years of supervisory experience;
- Experience and knowledge of various stages of the project cycle (project planning/ feasibility analysis/ detailed design/ project implementation/ construction supervision/ contract management) is desirable;
- Experience and knowledge of the transport sector is required, with experience and knowledge of the civil aviation sectors as an added advantage;
- Sound knowledge of government administrative systems and procedures;
- Familiarity with accepted best practices of procurement and disbursement processes;
- Proven ability to liaise and work effectively with the EAs, senior government officials, other project stakeholders, staff within own work location, and other international organizations, in procurement and undertaking policy dialogues;
- Ability to work collaboratively with teams as a constructive team member, as a mission leader, and a project team member; and
- Proven effective report-writing and communication skills in English.
