Full Version of Nagarik App Launched to Include 80 Government Services:

The Nagarik App has been officially launched to include 80 government services in the next 6 months. Taking the opportunity of National ICT Deco, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli launched the app on Sunday. Earlier, it was made public as a trial (beta version).

Using the facility to open a bank account by scanning the QR code in the app, Prime Minister Oli announced the launch of the app by opening an account with Nepal Bank Limited. Even though it is claimed that all government services can be provided through a single app, now there is a facility to get PAN number and police clearance report and open an account by scanning QR code in three banks.

According to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, work is underway to integrate 40 services provided by local bodies and 40 services provided by other government offices within six months. The ministry said it was preparing to make most of the services from the app based on QR codes. The ministry has said that the vehicle tax and renewal fee to be paid to the transport office in the next few weeks will also be paid through the app. In a few weeks, the facility of blocking and releasing land at the Land Revenue Office is also being prepared to be integrated in the app.

The ministry plans to connect all 753 municipalities across the country by integrating local-level services through Kathmandu Valley Municipalities. Initially, priority has been given to include more crowded government office services in the app. The ministry has stated that it is preparing to quickly integrate the services of the office where one has to fill in the personal details such as taking the public service exam and getting a SIM card.

The previously released beta version had the facility to get a PAN number from the Nagarik app as well as view your citizenship, passport, and educational details. The current app has the facility to open an account at any branch of Nepal Bank Limited, Rastriya Banijya Bank, and Siddhartha Bank by scanning the QR code from the app. The ministry said it plans to include other banks in the app. While scanning the QR code through the app, a copy of the details of the required documents can be provided to the concerned office through the app.

The app currently has the facility to view the details of your insurance with the Health Insurance Committee, the amount deposited in the Social Security Fund, the Citizens Investment Fund, and the Employees Provident Fund. Now you can see the details of the Land Revenue Office from the app. From the app, you can download the details of your red card and see the details of the lot number. Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung claimed that the app would be effective in reducing corruption.
