Overview
The National Forensic Science Laboratory (NFSL - Rastriya Vidhi Vigyan Prayogshala) in Khumaltar, Lalitpur, Nepal, offers a comprehensive range of forensic services to support the judicial and investigative processes.
The Biology Section conducts hair, fiber, and diatom analyses using physical and microscopic techniques. The Serology Section examines blood and semen with serological and chemical methods.
The Dental Section analyzes teeth marks, physical conditions, and tissues, while the Wildlife Section investigates skins, hairs, bones, and other animal-related evidence using various physical and microscopic techniques.
The Toxicology Section detects poisons in biological and plant specimens, and measures blood alcohol content using TLC and GC-MS methods.
The Narcotics Section identifies drugs like heroin and cocaine through color tests, TLC, and GC-MS.
The Chemistry Section examines flammable substances, material strength, and explosives using chemical and GC-MS techniques. Finally, the Document Section analyzes handwriting, signatures, stamps, and ink, verifies document authenticity, and detects forgeries using physical, microscopic, and CSS methods. These services are crucial in ensuring justice and public safety in Nepal.
