Message from the Principal
Under the tutelage of Nepal Army Welfare Fund, Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya Mangalgadhi Surkhet is the non-profitable educational hub established in the heart of Karnali Province, Birendranagar- 9, Mangalgadhi, Surkhet in 2063 Kartik 15 with the pious slogan “Gyanena Paramo Sewa” or imparting knowledge is the supreme service to both army and civilian children. Mahavidyalaya has green environment with 16 Bighas of area. All the necessary physical structures both for hostellers and day scholars are available here. Competent and keen teachers create ample physical, cognitive and emotional learning spaces for every students.
How schools impart education depends on how they perceive the term education. The goal of school education is more aligned with the SDG - 4 which reads as "Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all".
Quality education is the concern and chant of every educational institution today. Here is a question of quality education. What entities do consist in quality education? Many believe that quality education is the numerical or letter presentation in the gradesheet as it opens future employment opportunities and further education.
UNESCO presents four pillars of education: learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together, and learning to be. Education has to learn one how to know something for applying them to the sustainable benefit of ourselves. Moreover, it has to enable the learners to live with others harmoniously and happily.
Schools today compete on marks/grades rather than deeper understanding and core human values. Their focus has been derailed so people seek individual success instead of mutual benefit, expect to be better employees than enterpreneurship, make individual growth rather than collective national progress, obesity in the name of good health, be depressed and unhappy in quest of success. However, our attempt is to foster a more holistic approach to education by shifting the focus from traditional practice of teaching to encouraging good communication, critical thinking and problem solving, creativity, leadership and collaboration, along with preparing the students for the complexities of contemporary global community.
In this context, SAMS is striving to provide learning spaces for attaining high deeper understanding. It instills personal, social and cultural values, learning and doing skills. We practice positive thought pattern and growth mindset. We learn natural and healthy habits for healthy life. So, we are connecting life to nature, culture and techno-culture to pursue quality education in general and good health, peace, creativity, happiness and continue learning lifelong in particular. Ultimately, education has to promote how to think constructively and work properly. This is the core belief of SAMS today.
Every knowledge and value system schools yesterday instilled or failed to instill are the outcome of today's society and world. Therefore, we are preparing the generation for twenty years after or so. We support learners to grow confident and skilled human being. The objectives of SAMS are closely aligned with global thought and local needs. If you wish to be the part of our mission to change the world into a better living and learning place with peace, freedom and social justice, you are welcomed heartily here.
Thank you.
Mr. Prem Bahadur Bishokarma
Principal
