Overview

Padma Kanya Vidyashram Secondary (Nepali: पद्मकन्या विद्याश्रम माध्यामिक विद्यालय) was founded on 21 January 1948 (2004 Magh 8) as a government school, which is located in Dillibazar, Kathmandu, Nepal. It is affiliated to the National Examination Board (NEB) and approved by the Ministry of Education. It offers educational programs from Grade One to Ten (SEE) and Plus Two programs under Management, Humanities, and Education streams.

Education is the source of light, the light that gives us invaluable guidance in different areas of life. Education helps to create human personality. It is through education that a person develops self-confidence and thinking. Getting proper education is essential for everyone to move forward and achieve success in life. Not earning an education is like living in darkness. Perhaps by understanding this fact, along with the evolution of civilization, people have been learning and teaching in different ways since before. In ancient times, the education system traditionally provided by Gurukul, Gumba, Madrasa, etc., with the expansion of modern technology, has recently reached the computer age.

History of Padma Kanya Vidyashram

In view of the fact that the development of society cannot be done without educating women, the then Rana Prime Minister, Shri 3 Padmasamsher Jawara, established the Padma Kanya Vidyasharam in his own private building and 13 Ropani lands on the day of Sri Panchami in 2004 BS.

Founded in 2004 BS, Padma Kanya Vidyasharm is one of the oldest schools in the country. Initially, the school was operated on the upper floor of the Durbar High School and after some time the present location has shifted to Dillibazar, school documents show. Established in 2004 BS, the school has been participating in the entrance examination since 2005 BS.

In the booklet "Appeal to the Guardian," published by Professor Ananddev Bhatt, the then Chairman of the School Management Committee, 2049-6-1 BS on behalf of the school - according to details obtained by Ministry of Education, Examination Controller Office, in 2005 BS, 4 students from this school for SLC. It states that 2 people have passed the SLC. Well-known literary artist Parijat (Bishnukumari Waiba) passed the entrance examination from this school in 2011 BS at the age of seventeen.

The school was also operated in the wee hours of 2020 BS. Nilam Prabhu Shivakoti, who had been the Principal of the Padma Kanya Vidyasharm for nearly a decade, was appointed to the same woman Gyan Mandir Secondary School in 2020 BS. He recalled that he had worked as an Assistant-Principal at the Padma Kanya Vidyasharm after joining the Padma Kanya Vidyasharam from 2030-11-1 BS after the new education scheme implemented in the morning. Likewise, Meira Upadhyaya, a retired assistant principal of Padma Kanya Vidyashram, also remembers having taught Nepali in secondary education at the beginning of the morning when she came to this school after being appointed to the school in 2030 BS.

Currently Padma Kanya Vidyashram:

From the time of its inception until now, thousands of qualified and capable women are dedicated to the nation and its contribution to the field of women education is immense. In order to upgrade itself, this school has been conducting classes 11-12 in education, humanities, and management since 2064 BS. The purpose of providing technical education to the students is to teach civil engineering subjects from Class 9 to the present, and there is also an infant class for young children. Social organizations like Scout, Junior Red Cross, EcoClub and ChildClub have also been run to develop the overall capacity of the students. A 44-room women's dormitory building is being constructed in the school hall for the convenience of girls.

In the heart of Dillivazar, the capital, Kathmandu, there are about 9,000 students from all walks of life, culture, language and livelihoods who come from different parts of the country, including their own 13 Ropani land and two floors divided into three blocks. The school has been teaching additional books on English, Mathematics, and Computer besides government courses up to the Secondary School level without any monthly fee. Classes 6 to 10 are taught in both Nepali and English medium. Which can be considered an important aspect.

Padma Kanya Vidyashram Secondary School provides Secondary level education with moderate fee structures and also provides a scholarship scheme for deserving students.
