Overview

Kathmandu Valley Secondary School was established in 1986 A.D. as a Private educational institution, which is located in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, Nepal. It is affiliated to the National Examination Board (NEB), Cambridge GCE A-Level College and approved by the Ministry of Education. It offers education programs from Ten Plus Two under Management, Science, Humanities, GCE A level Non-Science, and GCE A-Level-Science streams.

The school continues to provide opportunities that encourage, challenge and nurture children and help them achieve the best of their abilities. Kathmandu Valley School offers school and Higher secondary school level education.

KVS takes pride in its facilities for extracurricular activities. With all the extracurricular and co-curricular activities, the school still maintains a high standard of academic excellence.

The School with its social responsibility provides scholarships is available to deserving students in secondary and higher secondary classes. The scholarship is offered to deserving students who are from upcountry and do not have financial backing for their academic pursuance.

FACILITIES

LIBRARY: The school is strengthened with a well-maintained library that capacitates more than ten thousand books. These books are course books and reference books along with a lot of creative reading materials. The library also has books for extra-curricular activity, like books to teach painting, crafting and other vocational areas. Students get library periods every week and enjoy reading them.

LABORATORY: The school possesses an independent Computer Lab with a strength of more than 30 computers. And all computers are connected to 24hrs internet facility. Students can do programming, downloading and even carry out project work as assigned by the tutors.

Besides Computer Lab, the school owns three labs for Science practical- Physics Lab, Chemistry Lab and Biology Lab. All labs are fully furnished and maintained. Students make use of all the labs for theory practicals as per their routine.

MEDICAL SECTION AND HYGIENIC CAFETERIA: KVHSS has an independent Medical Ward with a Doctor and Nurse who look after children in the case of minor injuries and accidents. The ward is equipped with all medical instruments and medicine as per the requirement. The school also has a hygienic cafeteria certified by the Medical Section of the school. The foods are sold as per the direction of the nurse.

HOSTEL FACILITY: The school runs an independent hostel within the school's premises and it is attached to the school's main building. At present, it serves around 105 students. Clean dormitories, separate floors for boys and girls, two hostel wardens, one hostel matron, and one hostel superintendent are its features and security. Besides, there are several junior staff along with a hygienic hostel kitchen and dining hall. The fee structure of the hostel is affordable to all.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT: The school has an independent research and development wing that looks after all research work and research publications. It takes students to different places for project work, fieldwork, and research. These activities are very integral to the present academic curricula we offer. The students visit many places, carry out issue-based research on the questionnaire developed in the school, approved and recommended by the concerned faculties, and come back with relevant findings. Then they develop a report; make a presentation in front of their friends, teachers & parents as well. On this ground, we are a research & development-oriented institution.

TRANSPORTATION: Bus service is provided by the School at a subsidized rate. Parents are requested to arrange a proper escort for their children to and from the scheduled bus points.

Kathmandu Valley Secondary School provides up to School level education with moderate fee structures and also provides a scholarship scheme for deserving students.

Admissions Process a Criteria:

The student appeared in SEE Examinations can apply to their intended programs. Our admissions criteria:

Students scoring Grade B and above can apply for the Science stream.
Students scoring Grade C+ can above apply for Management and Humanities. Students must go through the school's entrance examination. English, Maths, and Science for Science students and English and Maths for Management Students of 50 marks. The duration of the Examination will be one hour with all objectives questions. This will be followed by an interview. The presence of Parents/Local guardians during interviews and admission is a must.

The classes for HS run from 6:30 am to 10:45 am (Morning shift) and from 11:00 am to 3:15 pm (Day shift), Sunday to Friday.

The college also offers scholarships to meritorious students which rest upon the decision of the Principal and the Management Committee of the college. Our scholarship scheme is:

District Topper: Full Scholarship School Topper: 80% Scholarship in both tuition and admission

Students scoring Grade A+: 50% scholarship in tuition fee

Students scoring Grade A: 40% scholarship in tuition fee

Students scoring Grade B+: 25% scholarship in tuition fees
