Observations and Statements:

According to Engineer Shailendra Jha, a member of the Urban Planning Commission of the metropolis, due to the high fees for studying science in Kathmandu, students are opting for science subjects to reduce the financial burden on their guardians.

Annually, a total of 46,290 students in Class 11 study various subjects in private educational institutions within Kathmandu. Member Jha stated, "According to the legal provision that private schools must provide 10 percent scholarships, the schools will provide scholarships as per the standards even in vacant quotas."

He further explained that due to 52 percent of students failing in this year's SEE, they have been deprived of scholarship opportunities, leading to vacant quotas in other subjects. Engineer Jha added, "On the other hand, the fees for studying science in Kathmandu are very high. Therefore, it is understood that more students are choosing science to reduce the financial burden on their guardians."

Jha claimed that the organized rules and monitoring of the metropolis' education department would be crucial. The education department of the metropolis has made it mandatory for schools to provide data on the scholarships available in their schools.

Mayor's Announcement:

Meanwhile, Mayor Balen Shah of the metropolis has urged students who have received scholarships to apply online for re-evaluation by filling out the form available in Schedule 3 on the website by 5 PM on Shrawan 10, if they have any claims against the results or are dissatisfied with their marks.

After the period for re-evaluation and claims has ended, a general and group matching list will be published according to the priority order. The priority will be the educational institution and subject selected by the student when applying.

"If the quotas are vacant according to the list, they will be filled from the second list. If the quotas are still not filled, students who wish to change subjects and educational institutions will be given the opportunity to enroll," Mayor Balen wrote on social media. Mayor Balen aims for everyone to benefit from the scholarships provided by private educational institutions within the metropolis.

"When determining the order of qualifications, those with the highest marks are placed in the first order of qualifications. In the case of those with equal marks, the GPA of the SEE is considered," Mayor Shah mentioned on social media, stating the decision of the metropolis, "If the GPA is also equal, the marks in Mathematics, if those are equal too, the marks in Science, if those are also equal, the marks in English, and if those are also equal, the marks in General Knowledge will be considered as indicators of qualification. He further wrote, "If all these are equal, the metropolis has decided to give priority to the younger age."

If these are also equal, the ranking will be determined based on the final decision of the scholarship committee, said Education Department Head Govinda Prasad Sharma.
