JDS Scholarship for Nepal Government Officials:

The government of Nepal requested all the officials to apply for the JDS Scholarship application to Study in Japanese Universities (Master and Doctoral programs).
The committee constituted on 2077-05-15 to nominate the qualified civil servants from all the agencies for application in the study/scholarship program as per the details (as per sub-section (3) of section 40 (b) of the Civil Service Act, 2049 (with amendments)). As decided by the meeting, the appropriate candidate should be nominated for the program and sent to the Ministry of Finance, International Financial Assistance Coordination Division, and also the code number of the nominated staff; It is mandatory to make the information available in the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration as well; Requested action is requested as per the transaction decision.

Required Qualification:
Applicants should be/have:
1. Nepali nationals
2. Between the ages of 25 and 40 (both inclusive) as of April 1st, 2021. (should be born between April 2nd, 1980 and April 1st, 1996)
3. A Bachelor’s degree. (Those who will apply to Kyushu University have to have a Bachelor’s degrees in Law)
4. At least 3 years of work experience in Civil Service at the time of applications.
5. Gazetted civil servants currently employed in the following organizations
- All ministries
- All agencies under ministries
- All constitutional bodies
- All other institutions and authorities
- All courts
Or, civil servants (Level 7 and above) originally recruited by the federal government and deputed/adjusted to 7 provincial and 753 local governments.
6. A strong will to work for the development of Nepal after their return home.
7. In good health.
8. English language proficiency is sufficiently fluent in studying in Japan.
Applicants should not be/have:
1. Serving in the military.
2. Previously acquired a master’s degree after studying abroad on a scholarship awarded by the Government of Nepal or any other development partners.
3. Currently receiving or planning to receive, another scholarship through the assistance by the Government of Nepal or any other development partners.

What is JDS Programme?
The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) Programme, funded by the Government of Japan (GoJ), is now accepting applications from government sector workers, who wish to obtain post-graduate degrees from Japanese Universities, starting from the academic year 2021. The courses will be taught in the English medium, and the duration is two years for a Master's degree programs, and three years for a Doctoral degree program. The total number of participants from Nepal will be 20 seats for the Master's degrees and 2 seats for Doctoral degrees per year.
The government of Japan is offering the JDS Scholarship Programme to government officials in Nepal (Nepal Government Employees) as a way of providing them with opportunities for academic research at Japanese graduate schools.
The JDS Scholarship Programme targets, primarily, highly capable young government officers who are expected to engage in formulating and implementing social and economic development plans and to become leaders of Nepal in the 21st century.
