Embassy of India, Kathmandu Announces AYUSH Scholarship Scheme (ICCR) 2024-25

The Embassy of India in Kathmandu invites applications from Nepalese nationals for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Ph.D. courses related to Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Yoga, and Homoeopathy in Indian universities, institutions, and colleges under the AYUSH Scholarship Scheme of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Applications for the academic year 2024-25 can be submitted through the A2A Portal at www.a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in.

Eligibility for Undergraduate Courses:

a) Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS):

  • Duration: 5½ years, including one year of mandatory clinical training (internship)
  • Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)

b) Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS):

  • Duration: 5½ years, including one year of mandatory clinical training (internship)
  • Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)

c) Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS):

  • Duration: 5½ years, including one year of mandatory clinical training (internship)
  • Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)

d) Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS):

  • Duration: 5½ years, including one year of mandatory clinical training (internship)
  • Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)

e) B.Sc in Yoga:

  • Duration: 3 years
  • Eligibility: 12 years of schooling

f) B.A. (Yoga Shastra):

  • Duration: 3 years
  • Eligibility: 12 years of schooling

Eligibility for Postgraduate and Ph.D. Courses:

Postgraduate Courses:

a) MD Ayurveda:

  • Duration: 3 years
  • Eligibility: BAMS degree recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM)

b) MD Siddha:

  • Duration: 3 years
  • Eligibility: BSMS degree recognized by CCIM

c) MD Unani:

  • Duration: 3 years
  • Eligibility: BUMS degree recognized by CCIM

d) MD Homeopathy:

  • Duration: 3 years
  • Eligibility: BHMS degree recognized by Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH)

Ph.D. Courses:

a) Ph.D. in Ayurveda:

  • Duration: 3 years
  • Eligibility: MD (Ayurveda) degree recognized by CCIM

b) Ph.D. in Unani:

  • Duration: 3 years
  • Eligibility: MD (Unani) degree recognized by CCIM

Application Process for AYUSH Scholarship Scheme

The portal will open on May 1, 2024 (Wednesday), for online applications. The last date for uploading applications on the A2A Portal is May 31, 2024 (Friday).

How to Apply:

  1. Online Application Submission:

    • Submit applications through the A2A Portal.
    • Follow the procedures and norms provided on the portal.
  2. Guidelines and Course Details:

    • Carefully read the ICCR instructions and guidelines for filling out the online application.
    • Visit the concerned universities' websites for detailed course information.
  3. Selection of University/Institute and Course:

    • Conduct thorough research on the specific admission criteria for each university and subject.
    • Submit all required documentation as per the universities' requirements.
    • Refer to the Universities Handbook/University Grants Commission’s website and the concerned institute’s website for eligibility criteria.
    • Separate application forms must be submitted for each course.
  4. Application Fee:

    • Deposit an application fee of NRs. 400/- in favor of the Education Wing, Embassy of India, Kathmandu.
    • Use Account No. 17725240200331 at any Nepal SBI branch.
    • Write the online application registration number and name on the counterfoil/receipt for identification.
  5. Document Submission:

    • Submit the original counterfoil and printout of the application, along with a duly notarized copy of the documents uploaded online, to:
      • Embassy of India, Kathmandu (for all districts except those mentioned under the Consulate General of India, Birgunj)
      • Consulate General of India, Birgunj (for districts: Bara, Chitwan, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Makwanpur, Parsa, Rautahat, Sarlahi)
    • Note: Application fees are non-refundable.
  6. Complete Submission:

    • Ensure all applications are complete with required documents (Annexure-I) by or before May 31, 2024.
    • Late applications will not be accepted.

Important Notes:

  1. Age Requirement:

    • Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of admission. There is no upper age limit.
  2. Medium of Instruction:

    • Courses will be taught in English and/or Hindi. Shortlisted candidates may need to take an English test/interview.
  3. University Preferences:

    • Applicants must list five choices of universities/institutes in their order of preference.
    • If seats are unavailable at the chosen university, the Ministry of AYUSH will allocate a seat in another university based on availability.

Additional Guidelines for AYUSH Scholarship Scheme

Important Points:

  1. Course-Specific Applications:

    • Applications will be processed only for the specific course applied for. No requests for university transfers or changes in the course will be entertained at any stage.
  2. Fee Reimbursement:

    • There will be no reimbursement for fees paid by scholars to the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) for obtaining equivalence certificates.
  3. Medical Fitness:

    • Applicants must be medically sound.

  • Direct Applications Only:
    • The Embassy of India accepts applications directly from applicants. It does not recognize or accept applications through any education consultants, middlemen, or agencies.
    • Applicants are advised to beware of unscrupulous persons or agencies. Applications submitted through such channels are liable to be rejected.
