Dhulikhel Hospital Notice for Research Fellowship Opportunity in Critical Care

Dhulikhel Hospital invites eligible candidates for the fully funded Research Fellowship in Critical Care, which is offered in collaboration with the Mount Sinai Institute for Critical Care Medicine in New York, USA.

The main objective of this fellowship is to help advance the development of intensive care medicine by educating frontline providers, pushing for the adoption of best practices, and fostering research on critical care-related topics.

Fellows will assist in data collection, writing, and preparation of critical care research. They will collect daily data, enter data into a computer database, and maintain it. At the end of the fellowship period, fellows will present a summary of their research to critical care faculty from their home institution and Mount Sinai. They are expected to present research results at national and international critical care conferences. More information about this fellowship is available as attached to this notice.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Candidates must have postgraduate qualifications in anesthesia.

  2. Minimum of one year experience in critical care or work in critical care research.

  3. Fully registered in the respective professional councils.

Selection Criteria

Eligible candidates will be selected through an interview.

Mount Sinai Institute for Critical Care Medicine (ICCM) Global Critical Care Program (GCCP) Research Fellowship in Dhulikhel Hospital General Information

Mission Statement:

The Mount Sinai Global Critical Care Program (GCCP) aims to advance intensive care medicine in low and middle-income countries by educating frontline providers, advocating best practices, and fostering research on critical care topics. The GCCP Research Fellowship offers health-sciences students and trainees the opportunity to participate in, publish, and present clinical research in critical care. The fellowship provides training, mentorship, and funding for travel to present research at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and/or international essential conferences of care.

Fellowship Responsibilities:

Fellows will:

  • Assist in data collection, writing, and preparation of critical care research.

  • Conduct daily data collection, enter data into a computer database, and maintain it.

  • Attend scheduled didactic and mentoring sessions.

  • Present a summary of their research to critical care faculty from their home institution and Mount Sinai at the end of the fellowship.

  • Present research results at national or international critical care conferences. Fellows should obtain a passport and visa for international travel to the United States or other countries where research will be presented.

Educational Activities:

As part of the fellowship, you will attend a series of clinical and research-oriented classes over Zoom. These sessions will cover basic research methods, introductory statistics, and writing workshops. You will attend a monthly research meeting with the GCCP faculty.

Other educational activities include:

  • ACLS

  • SCCM courses

  • Ultrasound courses

  • Simulation exercises in Manhattan

  • Simulation training in Bolivia/Nepal

Support

ICCM at Mount Sinai will cover the following costs for fellows:

  • Loan of a computer for ongoing data collection

  • Access to Levy Library

  • Costs associated with preparing research posters

  • Manuscript submission fees to journals

  • Registration fees for international conferences occurring in the calendar year following the fellowship (e.g., 2025 fellows will attend a meeting in 2026)

  • Round-trip economy airfare to the United States or another country to attend an International Critical Care Conference

  • Visa application fees

  • Accommodation during the conference

  • Daily meal stipend while at Mount Sinai or a Critical Care Conference
