Call For Application International Fellowship in Gastroenterology QiMET International: This is a call for application for International Fellowship in Gastroenterology, for the year 2022. This is an international opportunity to do a Fellowship in Gastroenterology through QiMET International (QI).
COURSE OVERVIEW:
The Hybrid International Gastroenterology (HI-GASTRO) Training is a 3 year training program. The 1st year of the training will be conducted in Nepal and Chitwan Medical College (CMC) is the training site for the 1st year. The 2nd and the 3rd year of the training will be conducted in Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospital (DBTH), UK. Trainees will follow the Royal College of Physician (RCP) curriculum, RCP e portfolio, and F. Res (Fellowship in Research) modules as part of the training. The Trainees are also required to write a 10,000 word Thesis and submit it in the CMC —IRC to complete the course. At the end of three years, the trainee will receive an International Fellowship in Gastroenterology and an F.RES from QiMET International. The International Fellowship in Gastroenterology will be awarded by QIMET international and DBTH. The degree of F. RES will be awarded by QiMET International.
The trainee will go to DBTH, UK through the Medical Training Initiative (MTI) Pathway.
I. FELLOWSHIP RECOGNITION:
- Royal College of Physicians, UK supports this Fellowship in Gastroenterology.
- Nepal Medical Council/Medical Education Commission does not yet recognize this Fellowship.
II. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Preferred Eligibility: MD Internal Medicine completed.
- However, doctors with an MBBS degree and one year of experience as a Medical Officer are also eligible to apply for this program.
- Those who have ever attempted/passed PLAB are not eligible for this exam.
III. TRAINEE SELECTION & RECRUITMENT PROCESS:
IV. FOR THOSE APPLYING AFTER COMPLETION OF MBBS AND COMPLETION OF ONE YEAR OF EXPERIENCE AS A MEDICAL OFFICER:
- You will have to pass the HI-GASTRO Entrance exam conducted by QiMET International.
- You will subsequently have to deposit NRS. 2 Lakhs as registration fee (Non-refundable) to QiMET National centre, Nepal.
- Subsequently, you may be be offered the job of Medical Officer in Chitwan Medical College in the Department of Gastroenterology. However, you can choose to work in any hospital in Nepal.
- In the meantime, you will have to prepare for MRCP Part I and pass MRCP Part I. While preparing for MRCP Part I, you will have to simultaneously attend the academic teaching sessions online, from wherever you are, via ZOOM, every Wednesday. These teaching sessions will be organized by QiMET International.
- Subsequent to passing the MRCP Part I exam, you will have to pay additional NRS. 13 lakhs to QiMET National centre, Nepal and subsequently work in CMC as a HI-Castro International Training Registrar (ITR) in the Department of Gastroenterology for one academic year.
- During this one academic year, you will have to pass OET exam with at least Grade 'B", in each testing area (speaking, listening, reading and writing) of the Occupational English Test (OET)-medicine version. You will have to undertake ACLS/BCLS training, complete the RCP e portfolio, pass ARCP (Annual Review of Competency Progression) and complete the MTI process.
- Subsequent to completion of the aforementioned process, you will continue your 2nd and 3rd year of training in DBTH, UK
- If you do not pass MRCP Part I by January 15, 2023, you will not be eligible for the HI-Gastro Program and your registration fee will not be refunded.
V. FOR THOSE APPLYING AFTER COMPLETION OF MD :
- You will have to pass the HI-GASTRO Entrance exam conducted by QiMET International.
- You will have to pay NRS. 15 lakhs (in Installments) to QiMET National centre, Nepal and work in CMC as a HI-Gastro International Training Registrar (ITR) in the Department of Gastroenterology for one academic year.
- During this one academic year, you will have to pass OET exam with at least Grade `B", in each testing area (speaking, listening, reading and writing) of the Occupational English Test (OET)-medicine version. You will have to undertake ACLS/BCLS training, complete the RCP e portfolio, pass ARCP (Annual Review of Competency Progression) and complete the MTI process.
- Subsequent to completion of the aforementioned process, you will continue your 2nd and 3rd year of training in DBTH, UK
- You do not need to appear for MRCP Exam.
FEES & STIPEND:
- The total fees for the training program is 15 lakhs Nepali Rupees which needs to be paid in three installments.
- The trainee will receive a stipend of thirty five thousand pounds per annum during the training period in DBTH.
COURSE START DATE: The HI-GASTRO training program will commence from February 1st, 2022
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA OF APPLYING MTI APPLICATION TO CONTINUE FELLOWSHIP IN GASTROENTEROLOGY TRAINING IN UK (2ND YEAR AND 3RD YEAR TRAINING):
- The RCP scheme is the largest of all UK college programmes, with more than 300 international medical graduates currently working in the UK.
- Hold a primary medical qualification - recognised by the GMC and verified by Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). E.g. MBBS/MD
- Have completed at least 3 years postgraduate experience, including an internship, one-year experience as medical officer and minimum one-year RCP recognised training programme.
- You need to have a postgraduate qualification [MRCP (UK] Part 1, MD or other higher degree in medicine or a medical subspecialty.
- Be certified in at least one life support course - ALS (or RCEM recognised equivalence).
- Have achieved a minimum score of 7.0 in each section (speaking, listening, reading and writing) of the academic
module of the IELTS and an overall minimum score of 7.5. Test should have been taken within the last 2 years. Or - Have achieved a grade of at least 'B' in each testing area (speaking, listening, reading and writing) of the Occupational English Test (OET)-medicine version. Test should have been taken within the last 2 years.
- End of every year of training, trainees must be successful in their Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP) outcome which will be conducted by a panel of Consultants from RCP/NHS/CMC/MEC. At the end of first year HI-Gastro training in Nepal, trainees must be successful in their ARCP, before entering the MTI UK training.
- Have an institutional sponsor specifying the post they will return to, in Chitwan Medical College.
