Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Girirajmani Pokharel said that the provision of 75 percent scholarship at the graduate level should be implemented by the government medical colleges and public institutions mentioned in the Medical Education Act.
Minister Pokhrel urged the students to leave all the agitation programs and come to the talks as 75 percent of the free scholarships provided in the Medical Education Act will be started from this year. He made it clear that the Shared Entrance Examination contained in the Medical Education Act will be applicable only from the upcoming academic session. He said that due to delay in setting up of medical education commission this year, the shared entrance examination will be implemented from next year only. Minister Pokharel, while directing the Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, said that the provision regarding the scholarship of Sub-section 7 of Article 17 of the Medical Education Act will be implemented from this academic session.
In subsection 7 of Article 17 of the Act, 'the public education institutions will have to arrange for at least 75 percent of the number of seats available in the graduate-level program for free scholarships.
