World Food Programme (WFP) Awarded 2020 Nobel Peace Prize:

This year's Nobel Peace Prize will be awarded to the World Food Programme (WFP). The Swedish Academy announced the awarding of the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize to the WFP during an event in Oslo on Friday.

The Nobel Committee has awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to the United Nations World Food Programme for its efforts to eradicate hunger and for its efforts to bring peace to conflict-affected areas. The Nobel Committee also said that the WFP had played a significant role in "preventing hunger from being used as a weapon of war and conflict."

In 2019, the WFP provided assistance to about 100 million people in 88 countries struggling with hunger.

The Nobel Committee says the WFP has played a key role in multilateral cooperation by making food security a tool for peace. The Nobel Committee has also stated that the WFP has played a significant role in uniting the members of the United Nations to fight hunger.

The WFP, the world's largest human rights organization, provided assistance to some 100 million people in 88 countries fighting hunger in 2019.

The Nobel laureate will receive a gold medal and 10 million Swedish kronor.

Last year's Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abi Ahmed Ali. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his significant contribution to international peace and cooperation. He has been instrumental in resolving the long-standing border dispute and conflict with neighboring Eritrea.

The first Nobel Peace Prize was awarded in 1901 to Henry Duna, the founder of the Red Cross. Nelson Mandela, South Africa's first black president, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.

This year's Nobel Prizes in Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, and Literature have been announced. This year's Nobel Prize in Economics will be announced on October 12.
