Vinayi Triveni Rural Municipality Launches Local Curriculum for Classes 1-5

Vinayi Triveni Rural Municipality of Nawalparasi (Bardghat Sustapur) has recently created a local curriculum for classes 1 to 8, which aims to inform students about the historical, geographical, cultural, social, and agricultural aspects of the rural municipality. As part of this initiative, the municipality has prepared textbooks for classes 1 to 5 according to the local curriculum.

According to Ghanshyam Giri, chairman of the rural municipality, the local curriculum has been created in coordination with experts and local stakeholders to ensure that it reflects the unique features and characteristics of Vinayi Triveni. The curriculum, called 'Our Vinayi Triveni', includes subjects such as geography, art, culture, history, language, religion, health, hygiene, environment, profession, disaster management, and life skills.

The rural municipality has already sent the textbooks for classes 1 to 5 of the local curriculum for printing and preparations have been made to provide free textbooks to all schools in the rural municipality within a week. Bhuparaj Pandey, head of the education branch of the rural municipality, said that the textbooks will be implemented in the schools within the month of Baisakh, based on the curriculum.

The local curriculum has also determined the competency level for each class. For classes 1 to 3, students will acquire skills such as introduction of villages, wards, and municipalities, identification of local natural resources and heritage, and tourist spots. For classes 4 and 5, students will learn village mapping, situation identification, and life skills. Classes 6 to 8 will focus on the history of the rural municipality, formation of the rural municipality, service delivery, local tourism, and business potential.

Ganesh Prasad Basyal, the principal of Janata Basic School, has expressed his appreciation for the local curriculum, stating that it includes things that students have seen, used, and connected to their daily life. He added that the curriculum teaches general information about the wards, local social organizations, and rural villages, as well as information about the geographical, social, and cultural conditions of Vinayi Triveni Rural Municipality.

Overall, the local curriculum created by Vinayi Triveni Rural Municipality is a commendable initiative that seeks to provide students with relevant and practical knowledge. By including the unique features and characteristics of the rural municipality in the curriculum, students can develop a better understanding and appreciation of their local community.
