Vice President Yadav Advocates for Practical Skills in Community Schools; Inaugurates New Polytechnic Institute in Chandragiri
Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav said community schools must have practical skills and academic addition. He inaugurated the ‘Polytechnic Institute Building’ in Chandragiri Municipality-12. He believed that the technical and practical skills children acquire in school will help them become self-employed and self-reliant.
Vice President Yadav said, “In addition to providing equal opportunities and resources to children of all classes, there is a need for collective efforts to raise the educational standard of community schools.” Stating that Balambu Secondary School has set the standard for community schools across the country in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE), he suggested maintaining that standard in the coming days.
With the financial support of the Dream Sharing Foundation of South Korea, Chandragiri Municipality has prepared a multi-technical school with a state-of-the-art laboratory in the school. It is said that Rs. 25 million was spent to build a two-story building and four laboratories. Based on the curriculum under the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Education (CTEVT), skills equivalent to a bachelor's degree will be taught in four disciplines at the polytechnic institute: beautician, electrician, motorcycle, and mobile repair.
Students studying in grades 9 to 12 at Balambu Secondary School in the general stream can study in one of the disciplines of their interest. It is said that they will be able to complete the skills equivalent to a bachelor's degree in those four disciplines when they pass grade 12.
At the program, Former Minister for Education and Science Technology and MP Krishna Gopal Shrestha discussed the need to conduct technology-based skill classes in every community school. He expressed confidence that such skill-based courses would help in becoming self-employed.
Chandragiri Municipality Mayor Ghanashyam Giri said that the polytechnic institute would help link technical skills with the theoretical knowledge provided to children by community schools.
Chief Administrative Officer Hemraj Aryal mentioned that technical skills and academic knowledge in community schools will help create self-employment in the country.
Head of the Education, Youth, and Sports Branch, Sujanraj Khanal, said that providing students with theoretical and practical knowledge of technical education will help end unemployment.
The principal of Balambu Secondary School, Suman Rawat, said, “Students who start studying technical education in class nine will pursue both an academic certificate and technical education knowledge when they pass class 12.”
Chairman Si Win of Dream Sharing Foundation Korea pledged to continue supporting technical education in the coming days.
