Tribhuvan University's General Assembly Meeting Concludes with Various Policy Decisions

The general assembly meeting of Tribhuvan University, chaired by the esteemed Prime Minister and Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, K.P. Sharma Oli, was held in the conference hall of TU Smriti Bhawan, Kirtipur. The meeting decided to reconsider the minimum qualifications for entry into university teaching services and to establish a university service test examination system for teaching in constituent and affiliated campuses or colleges. Only those who pass this examination will be allowed to enter the teaching service in constituent and affiliated campuses and departments.

Additionally, the assembly passed a policy to prepare student assistance regulations to employ students for fulfilling the manpower needs of the university's central bodies, central departments, departments, and campuses, and to support students coming from economically disadvantaged classes and regions.

The general assembly also decided to continue the system of outsourcing office assistants by conducting manpower requirement studies (O & M) and analyzing the necessary manpower for various bodies. Moreover, a policy was approved to develop a mixed-methods curriculum for a bachelor's degree in hotel management in collaboration with Ayurveda, Liberal Arts, and the Hotel Association.

Special educational programs in Nepal, such as Mountain Engineering, Mountain Risk Management, Climbing, High Altitude Training, High Altitude Sports, Mountain Tourism, Economy and Environment, will have their curricula developed. Non-credit courses will be developed and operated according to labor market demands.

The assembly initiated the process of amending the act and regulations for university restructuring and restructuring the central office's organization and management based on the suggestions of the High-Level National Education Commission. A policy to merge private campuses with community campuses, community campuses with community campuses, and private campuses with private campuses was also adopted. However, campuses outside the valley will not merge with those inside the valley, but campuses inside the Kathmandu Valley can merge with those outside the valley.

The assembly decided that teachers appointed and posted at the university campus in Kirtipur must have at least a Ph.D. It also approved amendments to the rules related to the Audit Directorate, Curriculum Development Center, and Research Directorate at the central office to make these bodies time-relevant and to take other necessary decisions. The assembly gave theoretical approval for policy formulation related to social media, controlling gender violence, and laboratory accidents.
