A special traffic plan has been prepared for the occasion of Mahashivaratri on Tuesday. The Metropolitan Traffic Police has completed all the preparations related to traffic management for Mahashivaratri in Pashupati.
According to the department, arrangements have been made for easy movement of devotees and visitors to the Pashupati area. As the devotees come from far and wide, the smooth movement has been arranged for their convenience and parking lots have also been identified at separate places around the Gaushala area, according to the Traffic Police.
Arrangements have been made for uninterrupted operation of vehicles in Chabahil, Gaushala, and Tilganga areas like other regular days but in case of overcrowding of devotees and problems in the operation of vehicles, arrangements have been made to operate vehicles other than devotees on the route by alternative route.
SSP Joshi also informed that if there is no traffic in the Gaushala area due to the pressure of visitors, traffic will be banned in the Mitra Park-Gaushala-Tilganga area.
Arrangements have been made for the vehicles of visitors and devotees coming from different areas at Sifal Chaur, Gaurighat Corridor, Guheshwari, Tilganga Parking, and Tilganga Corridor. Similarly, arrangements have been made for parking of vehicles carrying funds and passers-by inside the office of Pashupati Area Development Fund, security agencies, and government vehicles carrying passers-by inside the Gaushala Police Office and other essential vehicles in Bankali area.
Spokesperson of the Traffic Division, Superintendent of Police Sanjiv Sharma Das said that if there is no congestion at Gaushala Chowk, vehicles plying from Chabahil to Gaushala, from Purano Baneshwor to Gaushala, from Gyaneshwar Mait Devi to Gaushala, and from Sifal Chaur to Jai Bageshwori will have alternative routes. Freight vehicles plying from Tinkune to Sinamangal Tilganga, from Chabahil to Gaushala, and from Bagmati Corridor to Gaurighat and Tilganga area are prohibited and diversion is arranged in that section.
About 900 traffic police will be mobilized to make the traffic management systematic and effective during the Mahashivaratri festival. Apart from the visitors coming to visit the Pashupatinath temple, the branch has also requested the vehicles going through Chabahil, Gaushala, and Tilganga to use alternative routes.
