According to the Election Commission of Nepal, 40 parties from Kathmandu will participate in the local level election to be held on April 12. Shaligram Sharma Poudel, the spokesperson of the regular press conference organized by the Election Commission on Monday, said that 40 parties besides the National Party would participate in the election in Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, 46 parties, including six national parties, will contest the election.

Similarly, the lowest number of parties are in Manang and Mustang. According to spokesperson Poudel, in Manang and Mustang, except for the national party, 5/5 parties have registered for the local elections.

Apart from the national parties, 73 parties have registered with the Election Commission. Of them, 9 in Taplejung, 8 in Panchthar, 8 in Ilam, 9 in Sankhuwasabha, 9 in Tehrathum, 12 in Dhankuta, 13 in Bhojpur, 10 in Khotang, 13 in Solukhumbu, 13 in Okhaldhunga, 22 in Udaipur, 30 in Jhapa, 33 in Morang, 32 in Sunsari, 28 in Saptari, 26 in Siraha and 26 in Dhanusha. He informed that 20 parties from Mahottar, 29 from Sarlahi, 30 from Rautahat, 29 from Bara, and 27 from Parsa will participate in the election.

Similarly, Dolakha 16, Ramechhap 18, Sindhuli 20, Kavrepalanchok 24, Sindhupalchowk 19, Rasuwa 12, Nuwakot 22, Dhading 21, Chitwan 28, Makwanpur 24, Bhaktapur 28, Lalitpur 31, Kathmandu 40, Gorkha 18, Lamjung 12, Tanahu 17, Kaski 25, Manang 5, Mustang 5, Parbat 14, Syangja 13, Myagdi 14, Baglung 13, Nawalparasi (East) 16, Nawarparasi (West) 21, Rupandehi 32, Kapilvastu 21 and Palpa 9 parties are participating in the election.

Arghakhanchi 11, Gulmi 11, Rukum (east) 7, Rolpa 7, Pyuthan 9, Dang 21, Banke 23, Bardiya 20, Rukum (west) 7, Salyan 7, Dolpa 5, Jumla 8, Mugu 9, Humla 9, Kalikot 14 Jajarkot 7, Dailekh 8, Surkhet 19, Bajura 9, Bajhang 7, Doti 9, Achham 10, Darchula 10, Batdi 10, Dadeldhulla 10, Kanchanpur 19 and Kailali 23.

The commission has decided that apart from the six nationally recognized parties, the smaller parties registered in different districts for election purposes will also be allowed to contest under their own symbol.

79 political parties across the country will be able to field candidates in their own election symbol.

The commission has stated that 10 thousand 765 polling stations and 11 thousand 966 polling booths have been set up for the local level election.
