Three Locks in the TU Vice Chancellor's Office:

Three groups dissatisfied with the working style of Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Dharmakanta Baskota have locked the door. Along with Baskota, the office of Professor Dr. Shivlal Bhushal and Registrar Peshal Dahal are also locked.

Earlier, the offices of all the three offices were locked by the Nepal Students Union and the Democratic Professors Association. The Democratic Professors Association also added a lock on Sunday. There are three locks in the same office as three groups have different locks.

The disgruntled group has accused the leadership, including Baskota, of favoring the appointment of deans and assistant deans in various faculties of TU, sidelining the seniors on the basis of party affiliation while appointing the campus head and not showing interest in fulfilling past commitments for TU reform. Dissident groups have made 33 demands to the TU administration.

He has also been accused of not showing an interest despite repeated ultimatums to meet their demands and of trying to run TU alone.

Although the main door of the office of three officials is locked, there are more than one and a half dozen offices inside. All office work has come to a standstill due to the lockout. Employees have not been able to work since the office was locked. Despite repeated talks with the locking group, no agreement was reached, the TU said. Trivedi claims that the lockout was carried out with the intention of pressuring dissident groups to include members of their own group in appointments to bodies within the TU. The TU said that only qualified and capable people will be appointed, regardless of their faith.
