Supreme Court orders not to implement National Curriculum Draft 2076 for school education
The government has made all preparations with the aim of implementing the new curriculum in class 11 from the current academic session and the printing of textbooks has been completed. The Supreme Court has issued an Order to show cause in the name of the Curriculum Development Center (CDC) to prevent the implementation of the new format.
A single bench of Justice Purushottam Bhandari on Wednesday heard the writ petition in accordance with the provisions of Schedule 8 of the Constitution; The Center has drafted a curriculum on local level single rights list and issues within the jurisdiction of local government; But in the case of non-implementation, the balance of facilities approach until the Interim Order is finalized; It has been mentioned in the decision that a short-term interim order has been issued in the name of the opposition to prevent the implementation of the National Model 2076 at the school level.
Since the curriculum development center has implemented the new format in class 11 from the current academic session, Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra has published all the books on compulsory subjects English, Nepali, and social education subjects. Director-General of the Center Keshav Dahal said that the government has made all preparations to move ahead with the new academic session as per the draft. In such a situation, if the draft is not implemented, an embarrassing situation will be created, he said. ‘There are more than a hundred elective subjects. The private publishing houses of all of them have already completed the printing of the book, 'said Director General Dahal. The draft has already been implemented. 'He added,' The Supreme Court has called for a discussion. The Center will proceed as per the order of the apex court by drawing conclusions from the discussions. 'The apex court has called for a discussion on Kartik 26.
Students and parents of class 11 had filed a writ petition alleging that the new format implemented by the center from this academic session has narrowed down the mathematics subject for the students of class 11 science group.
Dr. Jeevan Kafle, Joint Secretary of the Nepal Mathematical Society and Associate Professor of the Central Department of Tribhuvan University welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court. He said that the new draft being implemented by the government would remove the backbone of science, management, and humanities subjects and implement the draft, adding that these subjects would be very weak and meaningless. "The manpower produced from such subjects by studying the curriculum without mathematics becomes the weakest manpower for higher education studies at home and abroad in the world market," Kafle said. We have to maintain the natural right to choose mathematics to become a collaborator accordingly. '
