Supreme Court Dismissed the Writ Petition of New Curriculum Class 11 to 12:

The Supreme Court has dismissed the writ petition not to implement the new curriculum at the school level (grades 11 to 12) and now the way is open to implement the new curriculum. A bench of Justices Tej Bahadur KC and Prakashan Kumar Dhungana issued a directive to dismiss the writ petition, said Bhadrakali Pokharel, spokesperson of the Supreme Court.

Earlier, seven people, including Bhagwat Aryal, had filed a writ petition seeking a stay on the implementation of the new curriculum. With the dismissal of the writ petition, the injustice of teaching according to the new curriculum or the old one at the school level has come to an end.

Bhagwata Aryal and others had filed writ petitions against the Curriculum Development Center, Pokhara University, Midwest, Sudurpaschim, Purbanchal, Kathmandu, and the University of Agriculture and Forest Sciences. A writ has been registered in the court eight months after the curriculum was implemented as per the format.

The Curriculum Development Center had implemented a new curriculum for class 11 from last August. In a writ filed by Aryal on November 6, a single bench of Supreme Court Judge Purushottam Bhandari had issued a short-term interim order not to implement the new curriculum for classes 11 and 12 immediately.

After the interim order, most of the students in class 11 taught according to the new curriculum, but some schools taught subjects similar to the old curriculum and some schools taught according to the old curriculum.

The Supreme Court's order not to implement the new curriculum has put an end to the confusion over which curriculum should be taught to class 11. Now the reading will be done according to the new curriculum. The Council for Curriculum Development and Evaluation has approved the draft of the new curriculum and is teaching accordingly in educational institutions across the country.

A writ petition was filed in the apex court demanding non-implementation of the curriculum already implemented in class 1 and 11 in the current academic session. The petition was filed in Ashoj 28, claiming that the center had prepared a single list of local levels in Schedule 8 of the constitution and a curriculum draft in the jurisdiction of local government.
