Suggestion to the Ministry of Education to Announce the Start of the Academic Session:
Local leaders have suggested the Ministry of Education announce the start of the academic session. They made the suggestion in interaction with Education Minister Giriraj Mani Pokhrel.
To collect suggestions on the impact of Covid-19 infection on school education and measures to be taken in the future; Minister Pokharel had discussions with officials, chiefs, chief executive officers, heads of education departments, heads of education development and coordination units of the ministries of social development in provinces number one, two, Bagmati and five.
During the discussion, they said that if the start of the academic session could be announced, the students would be motivated to learn and the teachers would be compelled to go to school anyway. They also requested Pokharel to facilitate the journey of the teacher who went home due to COVID but could not reach the school due to lockdown.
The participants were of the opinion that it would be appropriate to give the right to decide whether or not to run the school to the local level considering the status of Covid's infection. He said that the study of alternative mediums started by the government has not been effective everywhere. He also said that the self-study materials provided by the local level to the students through the school have been more effective in teaching this method.
On the occasion, Minister Pokharel said that it was inevitable to continue the learning of the students even though the situation was unfavorable due to Kovid. Pokharel said that the alternative method should be made effective in the current situation as it is difficult to teach by conducting direct interviews with the students. Pokharel said that the academic session should not be wasted even by reducing the load prescribed by the curriculum or adopting other options. According to his secretariat, the decision will be taken after discussions with the responsible bodies of other states.
