A statue of the late Laxman Rajbanshi, a senior educationist, writer, and former Member of Parliament and Speaker, has been unveiled as a heritage of the Nepali educational sector.
Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute organized a special program on Sunday and unveiled a statue of Rajbanshi at the school premises. Distinguished personalities who spoke at the unveiling ceremony recalled the dynasty for its invaluable contribution to Nepal's education, social service and literature. During the program, Laxman Rajbanshi established Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute and shared his light of knowledge nationally and internationally.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, former Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University Kedar Bhakta Mathema recalled that he was an outstanding personality who lit the lamp of knowledge and consciousness in the late dynastic society and nation. Mathema said that the students should not be kept out of the political and social environment to lay the foundation for the development of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Rupak Rajbanshi, the current principal of Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute and Laxman's son, spoke about the invaluable contribution made by his father in the field of education and expressed his commitment to continue following the path shown by him. Rupak recalled that his father was more dedicated to the national interest than family love and affection, adding that he had made a significant contribution to the educational, literary, and social service of the country.
Senior neuroscientist and alumnus Dr. Sarvottam Shrestha, former teacher Tech Prasad Ghimire, former student Rajesh Rauniyar, teachers union president Raju Prasad Dawadi, Keshav Thapa, and others spoke about the multi-faceted personality of Laxman Rajbanshi. Rajbanshi has also published various literary works. The last book was written by Rajbanshi, Guli Sahayyagu, was also released at the event.
