As geography is many times more exciting and adventurous in Nepal than skiing in Europe and America, skiing is now expanding in the mountainous and high mountain areas of Nepal. A survey by an expert has shown that there is a lot of potential in the game of slipping in the snow.
A recent study by a group of mountaineering and Himalayan trekking experts jointly with the Nepal Mountaineering Training Institute and the Nepal National Mountaineering Pathfinder Association has revealed the possibility of skiing near the Dhorpatan Valley.
Chiring Jangbu Sherpa, an international mountain guide and board member of the Nepal Mountain Training Institute, said that there is a possibility of conducting ski sports in Dhorpatan not only in winter but also during the rainy season.
"There is a possibility of skiing on the slopes of land north of Dhorpatan valley. Artificial ice can be made in the area as it is not very sunny and cold," he said. Our group's study has shown that the game can be played by building, we will submit a detailed feasibility study report to the government in a short time.
Since 2015, the Nepal Mountaineering Training Institute and the Nepal National Mountaineering Pathfinder Association have been jointly developing the study of the potential of skiing, skiing training, sports production and skiing tourism in the mountainous and high mountainous regions of Nepal.
A group of experts participating in the study has stated that there is a possibility of skiing and apple farming in Dhorpatan. Experts say that skiing can be done at other times as it is very easy to make artificial ice in a place where electricity is available and it is very cold.
Romnath Gyawali, Executive Director of Nepal Mountaineering Training Institute, Uttam Babu Bhattarai, Admin Head of Nepal Mountaineering Training Institute, Board Member of Nepal Mountaineering Training Institute and International Mountain Guide Chhiring Jangbu Sherpa, Mountain Guide Jay Mall and a group of Posan Sahi came to Dhorpatan to study the possibility of skiing.
The Nepal Mountain Training Institute has stated that there is a lot of potential for adventure tourism along with skiing and sports as the valley of Dhorpatan is a very cold place.
The Nepal Mountaineering Training Institute and the Nepal National Mountaineering Guides Association have studied skiing in the Himalayan districts of Mustang, Manang, Kalinchok and other areas.
The Nepal National Mountaineering Guides Association has stated that they are currently working to promote the sport along with training. In Dhorpatan, some trees have to be cut down while preparing the snowy ground for skiing. - RSS
