Sigana Secondary School, Baglung Uses Smart TVs and Laptops in Classrooms
In recent years, the use of technology in teaching and learning has increased in Nepalese schools. With the help of the municipality, the Sigana Secondary School located in Baglung Municipality-9 has started teaching and learning through laptops and smart TVs in all classrooms.
Installation of Smart TVs and Laptops
The school has installed 55-inch smart TVs in five classrooms (rooms 6 to 10) and provided laptops to all teachers. The technology allows teachers to show lesson content on the laptop through the smart TV and conduct classes even when there is no electricity.
Teacher Training
Teachers are undergoing training to use laptops and teach students through digital means. Some teachers have already started taking classes using technology while others are learning from their colleagues.
Technology-friendly Learning Plan
The school's learning plan has been made technology-friendly with financial support from the municipality. The purchase of five smart TVs and eight laptops has enabled learning through technology in the school.
Focus on Quality Education
The school management committee aims to improve the quality of education in the school. Although the number of students is gradually decreasing due to migration, the school is attracting more students from the Dalit community by providing technology-enabled education.
Physical Improvement of School
The school management committee is involved in the physical improvement of the school. A one-story concrete building was built two years ago with donations from the locals. In the current financial year, a four-room school building has been started under the President's Educational Reform Program.
Prioritization of Technology in Education
The Baglung Municipality has prioritized the One Laptop One Teacher program and Smart TV connection program in secondary schools. The aim is to improve the quality of education in Nepalese schools through the use of technology.
Benefits of Technology-enabled Education
The use of smart TVs and laptops in education has several benefits. It increases the learning achievement of students and helps them become proficient in technology. Additionally, it enables teachers to conduct classes even when there is a shortage of classrooms.
Overall, the use of technology in education has the potential to revolutionize the way students learn in Nepalese schools. With the help of initiatives such as the One Laptop One Teacher program and the Smart TV connection program, schools can provide quality education to students even in remote areas.
