Shortage of Books in Vijay Secondary School and Mahakali Model Secondary School Mugu
The shortage of books is a common problem faced by many schools in Nepal, including Vijay Secondary School and Mahakali Model Secondary School. This issue affects the academic performance of students and puts their future at risk.
78 Class 9 students in Vijay Secondary School have not received books on economics and education, while 25 Class 8 students are still waiting for the computer education book. This situation has left them with no choice but to prepare for the annual examination without books.
Students like Rita Bam are worried about giving the exam without a book. They fear that they will fail if they take the exam without books. Unfortunately, this is not a new problem. Last year, the students of Class 9 and 10 gave their annual examinations without books.
The lack of books is also affecting the education of Class 10 students in Mahakali Model Secondary School. There is a shortage of population and economics books, and some students have not even completed their English, mathematics, and science courses. The teachers' preparation for the Teachers Service Commission exam has also contributed to the incomplete course.
The problem of book shortages is not limited to these schools. Most of the students studying in 141 public schools in Mugu are facing the same issue.
Despite the addition of road facilities, the problem of book shortage has not ended. The new academic session starts from Baisakh, but the delivery of textbooks starts only after the rainy season, causing delays in the delivery of books to schools.
This situation raises questions about the effectiveness of teaching if students do not have access to books. Schools and authorities must take immediate action to ensure that every student has access to the necessary books and resources to excel in their studies.
