Selfie with Daughter Campaign Launched in Nepal:
The selfie with Daughter campaign has also started in Nepal. The Selfie with Daughter campaign has been launched in Nepal through a virtual program on Sunday.
The campaign for gender equality started by Sunil Jaganlan of India had gained a lot of popularity in India and also received a lot of support and encouragement from the government.
The campaign has been formally launched in Nepal with the theme of Women's Empowerment and Gender Equality. The campaign has been launched in Nepal by jointly organizing a virtual program of Selfie with Daughter Foundation, India, and Nepal Internet Foundation.
Ms. Tajaina Shrestha studying in class VIII from Nepal and Ms. Avaneshi Shrimal studying in class IX from India were the chief guests in the virtual program. In this campaign, young girls and women from Nepal and India had their say.
On behalf of the Nepal Internet Foundation, Chairman Bikram Shrestha said that the new campaign would ensure the importance and rights of daughters as women are still being oppressed in Nepal.
On behalf of Nepal, Aarohi Poudel, Lipasa Shrestha, Prakriti Dhangel, Isha Shrestha, Sudha Joshi, Marin Rai, Rambha Shrestha presented the facts that women in Nepal are also facing domestic violence and more during the epidemic.
In the program, various issues of child and women rape, acid attack, suicide incidents, menstrual discrimination were presented. The Selfie with Daughter campaign is believed to add a smile to girls' faces as well as radically change attitudes such as discrimination against women and gender inequality.
Former Minister for Science and Communication Ganesh Shah, who was the guest of honor at the event, pledged his full support to the campaign and linked it with Glarers and Parents in ICT.
During such presentations, Kalpana Shrestha also announced the title of 'Best Selfie' saying that the Selfie with Daughter campaign launched under the leadership of Nepal Internet Foundation brings positive thinking in the society. This is a competition started by the campaign in which every Nepali can participate by taking selfies with their daughter.
The campaign of this campaign was launched on the occasion of International Mother's Day yesterday and the selfies of the participants will be divided into first, second, and third categories and will also be rewarded.
The first-place winner will receive Rs 21,000 in cash, including a shield, selfie with daughter certificate. Similarly, the second-place winner Selfie will get Rs 11,000 in cash including a shield, selfie with daughter certificate. The third-place winner will get Rs 5,100 in cash along with a Selfie with Daughter certificate.
The title of 'Best Selfie with Daughter' will be given to 3 selfies from Nepal and 3 from India. At the same time, the most active volunteers will be selected for the 'Ambassador for Selfie with Daughter' campaign for Nepal this year.
The campaign started by Sunil Jangalana from Bibipur, Haryana, India is now gaining popularity in various countries. In the program, Jangalana said that this campaign has brought a lot of changes from Haryana, India to a village called Mewat. He said that the Selfie with Daughter campaign has already taken the form of a movement in India, which has given a lot of change and opportunity to women and girls in remote villages of India.
On behalf of India, the campaign was launched by Rashtrapati Bhavan Deputy Director Anjali Bakshi, National Arwad Filmmaker, Vibha Bakshi, former USAID's Sunil Nanda, former CEO Dr Krishna Bankhande, Puja Singh and Sumeel, Ritchie of Indian origin scattered in different countries. It is encouraging to appreciate the radical change against discrimination, inequality and pressure on girls in the country.
Singer Ramdhan Goswami encouraged the girls by singing songs that matched their feelings. As Nepal and India have a lot in common, this initiative is expected to help.
