Recruitment Process of Nepal Railway Company to be handed over to Lok Sewa Aayog:
Nepal Railway Company is a 100% government-owned company. Nepal Railway Company Limited had opened an advertisement in Bhadra 29, 2077, saying that it would appoint 129 people in 29 posts including office and assistant on a contract basis. Nepal Railway Company had invited applications for the posts of Station Master, TT, Cashier, Guard, Administration, and Accountant. The company had planned to appoint manpower on contract only through Interview examination.
According to the advertisement for 129 seats, 32,686 people had applied online. In that advertisement, 1224 applications were received for a total of five officer level seats. Similarly, 29,594 had applied for 114 assistant level seats and 1,868 for 10 unclassified seats.
Nepal Railway Company has collected Rs. 13.6 million from 32,686 application fees for employment. There is a constitutional provision that employees in government institutions should be selected through the Public Service Commission. However, Nepal Railway Company had invited applications for contract service.
Article 243 of the Constitution of Nepal 2072 BS has a clear provision that the Public Service Commission shall conduct the written examination for the posts in the Federal Government Service and the organization. 'Organized Institution' means an institution, company, bank, committee, or commission established by the Government of Nepal or constituted by the Government of Nepal in the possession or control of 50 percent or more of the shares or assets other than the University and the Teachers Service Commission. There is a clear provision that boards, centers, councils, and other similar organizations should be remembered.
Guru Bhattarai, general manager of the company, said that the advertisement has not been canceled yet. "Now the Public Service Commission is issuing advertisements for the recruitment of permanent staff. We are handing over the applications for the advertisements," he claimed. "The Public Service Commission will start the recruitment process for the written examination in accordance with the Commission's own Acts, Rules and Procedures."
