Ramesh Hamal Appointed as the chairman of Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON)

Ramesh Hamal has been appointed as the chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON). A cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to appoint Hamal as the chairman of SEBON. Last Tuesday, the chairman selection and recommendation committee of SEBON had recommended the final names of the three including Hamal to the Council of Ministers through the Ministry of Finance.

The selection committee headed by Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission Vishwanath Poudel had recommended the names of three persons for the post of board chairman. Along with Hamal, the selection committee had recommended the names of Dr. Gopal Bhatt, former executive director of Nepal Rastra Bank and Krishna Pokhrel working in SEBON.

Hamal holds a Master's Degree in International Business and Finance from Bangkok and has worked in the public and private sectors for nearly three decades. Hamal also has experience working as the Chief Operating Officer of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and United Nations Environment Project, British Investment Consultancy, and Real Estate Development Group Bank.

Hamal, who has a permanent home in Doti Silgadhi, graduated in electrical engineering and worked for the Nepal Electricity Authority for eight years.

From 2007 to 2010, he was the President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) of Thailand. He is building a five-star hotel in Kavre as a chain hotel of the famous Thai hotel brand Dusit Thani.
