Ram Prasad Upadhyaya Appointed as a Chairman of Karnali Province Public Service Commission:
Ram Prasad Upadhyaya has been appointed as the chairman of the Karnali Province Public Service Commission (Karnali Pradesh Lok Sewa Aayog. The recommendation committee headed by Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi on Thursday elected Upadhyaya as the chairman.
Similarly, Bhakta Bahadur Khadka of Surkhet and Basanti Kumari Singh Shahi of Humla have been appointed as members of the commission.
Speaker Raj Bahadur Shahi and Leader of the Main Opposition Jeevan Bahadur Shahi are members of the recommendation committee. Acting Secretary and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law Tul Khadka informed that the chairperson and members have been appointed on the recommendation of the committee.
Upadhyay, a resident of Surkhet, has been recommended for the post. He is a former regional director of education. After being appointed as the public service commission chairperson, Upadhyaya has responded that he will work within the perimeter of the law and the constitution. He said that he would work honestly and impartially.
The Karnali Province government has issued the Public Service Commission Act 2075 with the first amendment.
There is a provision that a person who has obtained a master's degree from a recognized university should not be a member of any political party at the time of appointment.
