Public Demand for English Medium Education in Saptari’s Schools

Parents in Saptari have voiced their expectations for improved English medium instruction in public schools. This request was prominent at a meeting held at the Sri Public Bindeshwari Secondary School in Rajbiraj municipality, where attendees also advocated for political organization-free teaching and cost-free education.

Municipal Education Branch’s Standpoint

Bhogendra Yadav, the Coordinator of the Rajbiraj Municipal Education Branch, assured that the municipality is prepared to fulfill all educational needs of the city's schools. He addressed this commitment at the parent gathering at Rajbiraj's renowned Sri Public Bindeshwari Secondary School.

Challenges in the Current Education System

Yadav identified several challenges contributing to the declining quality of education in government schools despite the substantial state investment. He pointed out a lack of discipline, and self-examination among teachers, school administration, students, and parents, as well as inadequate public hearings, parent gatherings, and extracurricular activities. He stressed the necessity for financial transparency and timely implementation of these activities.

The Way Forward: Upcoming School Management Committee

Mohan Mishra, the Principal of Sri Public Bindeshwari Secondary School, shared that the meeting's key objective is to establish a school management committee. The formation is scheduled for Friday, June 23, 2023, under the provisions of sub-sections 1 and 2 of Section 12 of the Education Act.

Existing Academic Achievements and Technical Education

The school has a remarkable academic record, with 1,116 students currently enrolled from class 1 to 12, along with 115 technical students. It has been offering technical education for the past 18 months and three-year class 12 programs.

Infrastructure Developments

In terms of physical infrastructure, the state government has constructed a boundary wall of 215 meters. With support from Save the Children, Save the Saptari, and Epicenter Rautahat, several initiatives have been undertaken, including the provision of toilets, drinking water, and pre-school class migration management, according to Assistant Principal Kishore Kumar Chaudhary.

By embracing a broader approach that combines better instruction in English with additional improvements, the school seeks to deliver an education that prepares its students for a rapidly globalizing world.
