President Vidyadevi Bhandari Inaugurated MBBS Programs in Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS)

President Vidyadevi Bhandari has said that the establishment of Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) in Jumla has created a new history of Karnali. Arriving in Jumla today to formally inaugurate the much awaited MBBS and educational program in Karnali, President Bhandari said that new chapters of progress would be added to the academy.

"Karnali has a unique identity in our country," she said. "Karnali, known as the founding father of the Khas civilization since ancient times, has developed the glorious Sinja civilization by becoming the mother of the Nepali language.

She said that the foundation would play a big role in making Karnali, which has a glorious history, more famous. President Bhandari claimed that economic prosperity would be achieved if the immense potential of the natural resources of the sacred and fertile land could be utilized even if the country's largest province Karnali was temporarily lagging behind in terms of development.

President Bhandari said, “High value honey, herbs, handicrafts, valuable yarsagumba, katuki, fragrant herbs such as Shilajit produced in Karnali will be exported at low prices abroad but the institute should set up a research center to get rid of the obligation of Nepalis to buy expensive medicines. We need to be able to identify and use the valuable herbs available here in Nepal. ”

She urged to focus on the production of Jumli Marsi paddy in the hill country. She said that emphasis should be laid on Jumli Marsi paddy production as Chandannath brand is also becoming popular in Nepali market. According to President Bhandari, the international border should be strengthened and strengthened by increasing investment in Karnali's physical infrastructure, with emphasis on Mugu's Raratal, also known as the 'Fairy of Heaven', access to the world-famous religious-cultural site Mansarovar and a road connecting Hilsa.

President Bhandari congratulated all those who have long dreamed of pursuing higher education in their own backyards. He also extended heartfelt thanks and congratulations to the people of Karnali, the scholarly community, academia, the Government of Nepal and the concerned bodies for their contribution in launching the much awaited educational program including MBBS since its inception.

President Bhandari has also laid the foundation stone of a medical education educational building which is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 760 million. After the launch of the educational program, the formal study of educational programs including MBBS, B Pharma, BNS, BMS has started from today, said Dr. Mangal Rawal, Vice-Chancellor of the Foundation.

Karnali Chief Tilak Pariyar said that the establishment of the foundation has made progress in the health index of Karnali. He argued that the foundation was proving to be a cornerstone in the health condition of not only Karnali but the entire country.
The founder of the foundation and former minister Naresh Bhandari said that a new health era has started in the life of the backward areas. He said that the anxious wait of the people of Karnali who dreamed of producing doctors with aprons in white snow has been fulfilled.

Saying that it was a different and rare day for Karnali, Rawal thanked all those who had contributed to bring the foundation here and appealed to President Bhandari from the program to document the project of national pride.

Vice Chancellor Rawal said that the foundation has proved to be a cornerstone with the support of the initiators, government, stakeholders and locals. He claimed that Karnali was not synonymous with disease, hunger and poverty but would help change the face of the country.

Prof. Dr. Shrikrishna Giri, Vice-Chairman of the National Medical Education Commission, said that the importance of the academy, which was born in Karnali under very difficult circumstances, was different. He thanked the people of Jumla, Dr. Govinda KC, the Government of Nepal and everyone including the initiative committee coordinator and former minister Naresh Bhandari for taking initiative for the establishment of KAHS.

Shyam Lamsal, the founding registrar of KAHS, recalled the founding period and said that the foundation has reached here today due to the initiative taken with the state and locals and the support of all. He said that it was important to keep the academy alive since the 25-bed hospital was converted into a 300-bed hospital.
