Nepal Sanskrit University Teaching Hospital Building

On Wednesday, February 15th, 2023, President Bidya Devi Bhandari is set to inaugurate the Nepal Sanskrit University, Teaching Hospital building at 11 am. This ceremony marks a significant moment for the university as President Bhandari will be laying the foundation stone of the building, which was completed five years ago at a cost of over 2472 million. The building was constructed by a construction company and handed over to the university in 2017 November, after its completion in 2017 July.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and other reasons, the building could not be inaugurated until now. However, during this time, the Lumbini state government utilized the building as a special hospital to treat COVID-19 patients. Prior to this, the building was used for the practical training of students pursuing a Bachelor of Ayurveda (BAMS) degree, but the Outpatient Department (OPD) has since been closed.

Despite the building's previous usage, BAMS students are currently continuing their studies in the same building. Currently, there are five BAMS students who are regularly attending classes in the building, which is comprised of three sections and three floors, with a total of 108 rooms.

This visit by the head of state marks the first time a President has come to the university. The last time a head of state visited was in 1998 when King Birendra attended the first convocation ceremony. To ensure the safety of President Bhandari, security measures have been tightened ahead of her arrival.
