President Bidya Devi Bhandari Issued Railway Ordinance 2078:
President Bidya Devi Bhandari has issued Railway Ordinance 2078 on Wednesday. The ordinance has been issued to pave the way for the legal operation of the Janakpur-Jayanagar railway.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport had drafted the ordinance to pave the way for the operation of the railway. A few days ago, the cabinet meeting had recommended the ordinance to the President.
According to a source in the Ministry of Transport, the government of Nepal has made provision in the ordinance to operate the railway service to the land of one or more foreign countries or the foreign country to the land of Nepal or to another foreign country through the land of Nepal.
A statement issued by the Office of the President states that the ordinance has been issued in accordance with Article 114, Clause 1 of the Constitution of Nepal.
