Prime Minister and Chancellor of Far Western University Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that access to higher education should be ensured for all. He said this while addressing the ninth general assembly of the university on Friday. Deuba said that the university should be at the forefront of building an educated society by ensuring easy access to higher education especially to the citizens of Sudurpashchim. He said, "Considering the situation of having to go abroad for employment, it is very necessary for the young manpower to develop skills oriented education, modern agricultural science and forest science studies which will be useful in the development of the country."
He said that the university should run educational programs that can contribute to the national and international arena by producing timely manpower.
He said that the university should also focus on producing manpower that can compete with the manpower of national and international universities by fulfilling the quality of manpower required by the nation. If this can be done, it will be successful in fulfilling the needs of the country, said Prime Minister Deuba.
Deuba said that it was pleasant to complete all the educational, academic, study and research and examination activities on time through alternative methods even though it was difficult to conduct various educational activities of the university due to the global spread of COVID-19.
Minister for Education, Science and Technology and Vice Chancellor of the University, Devendra Poudel, said that the university should provide education as per the needs and demands of the Far West. He said that the university should pay special attention to technical and vocational education and focus on utilizing its resources and potential.
Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. Dr. Ammaraj Joshi said that the university has moved ahead by making a schedule to complete the educational program on time. He requested the government to make arrangements to take the university along in the research work to be done by the government. Far Western University was established in 2068 BS.
