PM KP Oli Instructed not to Increase Medical Education Fees:
The Medical Education Commission has proposed to increase the fee for the MBBS program by 800,000 in the academic session 2077-078 BS. The commission's fee determination recommendation task force had recommended Rs 4.8 million by increasing it from Rs 4,023,250 for various reasons.
However, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the chairperson of the commission, has instructed not to increase the fee this year. "It would not be appropriate for the government to raise tariffs as it would have a negative impact on the Corona disaster. Last year's tariff should be maintained," he said at the fifth meeting of the commission. "Don't talk about raising tariffs now, postpone it."
He has said before, talk about reducing, not increase. '
The recommendation committee had recommended extension in most of the 17 subjects. It was recommended to increase the fees in BDS, MDMS, MDS Science, MD Ayurveda, MN MSc Nursing, M Pharma, MSc Medical Microbiology, MSc Basic Science, MPhil Clinical Psychology.
Similarly, it was recommended to increase the fee of BDS by around Rs. The task force's recommendation was to keep the fees for the MDMS Clinical and MDS Clinical programs unchanged.
The meeting has decided to form a seven-member task force under the chairmanship of Minister Shrestha to analyze the current situation and determine the fee.
The task force consists of Co-Chairperson and Minister for Health Hridayash Tripathi, Education Secretary Gopinath Mainali, Health Secretary Laxman Aryal, Member of the National Planning Commission Dr. Usha Jha, Vice Chairman of the Commission Dr. Shrikrishna Giri and Member Secretary Dilliram Luitel.
Now the fee will be determined based on the recommendation of the committee. However, the co-chairman of the commission and Minister for Education Krishna Gopal Shrestha said that he would not agree to increase the fee by Rs 800,000.
