PCR Machine can Test the Coronavirus Infection in 90 Minutes:
The PCR machine that Nepal brought from China on Sunday will be able to test the coronavirus (Covid-19) infection within One and a half hours (90 minutes). The five handheld PCR machines brought from China on Sunday, the government has decided to distribute four provinces. The weight of this machine is 10 kilograms.
The machine can easily be transported from one place to another. Using this machine, the government will increase the scope of the Coronavirus test. This will make the test faster.
This machine doesn't take long to get tested. It can produce results in an hour and a half, 'said Dr. Runa Jha, director of the National Public Health Laboratory. According to Jha, it now takes 24 to 48 hours for the results to arrive in the lab. 'It takes 8 hours to do an emergency test,' she said.
This is the reagent required for testing on a portable PCR. It's a kind of chemical. The government has brought 20,000 reagents for this machine. 'Twenty thousand reagents can test twenty thousand people. It costs a reagent to do a test. Sometimes things can get worse so the numbers can go down a bit. ' So far only 917 have been tested so far, according to data provided by the National Laboratory on Sunday.
The government has also brought in 20,000 PCR reagents from China for the National Public Health Laboratory.
'It is also the same chemical but in the bottle. Another portable PCR is not as isolated as a reagent, 'said Jha, director. Now Nepal has the capacity to test a sample of 20,000 people in total.
He is currently undergoing 50 to 60 tests a day in the lab. However, she said the lab's capacity is to test 100 people daily. Now, through the Portable PCR machine, the government can make testing easier and wider. The 'negative' results provided by the Portable PCR machine may not be reliable, but the 'positive' results may not be 100 percent reliable.
'The positive results shown by the Portal PCR may be a mistake at times, but in those cases, the sample may be tested at the National Public Health Laboratory for further examination,' said Jha, director. Even if you test only the negative results, it will help reduce the workload in the national lab.
Now every sample test has to be brought to Kathmandu. Jha said she had already trained 25 people for PCR. 'We have given 25 people orientation, and they are no longer difficult to operate the machine,' she said. Corona test has also been launched at the VP Koirala Health Sciences Academy in Dharan from Sunday.
Experts have also said that the government should emphasize the test, as the number of corona infected people is increasing in Nepal.
Locked down will only mean that all infected people can be tested and kept separate during the 'lockdown' period. Therefore, it is important to test all who have the symptoms of corona from today.
Out of the five machines, the government has decided to provide one station in province-2, one in Butwal or Nepalgunj, one in Surkhet and one in the far-western region.
The high-level coordination committee has decided to keep the remaining one in Kathmandu and later give it to the places where demand is high.
The government has not sent a PCR to a number of states since the Corona Testing Lab was started yesterday at the VP Koirala Health Sciences Academy in Dharan.
