Report on Sahid Dasharath Chand Health Science University Bill, 2080 Passed with Revisions by Parliamentary Committee
The report related to the Sahid Dasharath Chand Health Science University Bill, 2080 has been approved with amendments by the Parliamentary Committee.
The meeting of the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee held on Sunday morning at Singha Durbar approved the report with amendments.
At the meeting, Committee Chairperson Ammar Bahadur Thapa proposed the approval of the report concerning the Sahid Dasharath Chand Health Science University Bill, 2080, with revisions from the Parliamentary Committee. The committee passed the bill unanimously.
He stated, "During the clause-wise discussion on the Sahid Dasharath Chand Health Science University Bill, 2080, several members raised policy-level concerns related to universities. Since those matters can be better addressed by incorporating them into the upcoming Higher Education Bill, which aims to maintain consistency across all universities, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has already been directed to present the Higher Education Bill to Parliament as soon as possible, incorporating the suggestions of the respected members. Hence, I propose to approve the current report with revisions."
During the clause-wise discussion on the bill, committee members raised various policy-related issues concerning universities. The committee decided that such issues should be included in the forthcoming Higher Education Bill to maintain uniformity across all universities. Therefore, the committee has directed the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology to present the new Higher Education Bill to Parliament promptly, incorporating the perspectives of the members.
