Panauti Municipality Appeals for Urgent Assistance Following Devastating Floods and Landslides
Panauti, Kavrepalanchok, Bagmati Province – Panauti Municipality has issued an urgent appeal for assistance following severe floods and landslides triggered by continuous rainfall starting from Ashoj 10, 2081. The disaster has claimed the lives of 20 individuals, injured many, and caused significant damage to property and infrastructure within the municipality.
According to the latest reports, 500 houses have been completely destroyed by landslides, with an additional 713 homes suffering partial damage. Over 2,000 livestock have perished, and many roads have been washed away or buried, severely impacting transportation and access to vital services. In addition, hundreds of ropanis of cultivated land have been destroyed, further exacerbating the crisis for local residents.
The municipality is facing severe shortages of drinking water, food, clothing, shelter, communication, and electricity. In response to this humanitarian crisis, Panauti Municipality has called for immediate support to aid in the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts for the affected population.
Humanitarian Appeal
Panauti Municipality has urged the three levels of government, donor agencies, organizations, political parties, and the general public to contribute essential materials such as food, clothing, tarpaulins, utensils, and flashlights. Financial donations are also being requested to assist in the rehabilitation of displaced families and the reconstruction of damaged infrastructure.
