Overview of the Employment Permit System (EPS) Language Test Results
The Employment Permit System (EPS) Korea branch under the Department of Foreign Employment recently announced that 6,321 candidates have successfully passed the first phase of the language test. This exam, which is a part of a three-stage process, saw participation from 40,580 candidates aiming to work in Korea's production sector.
Comprehensive Testing Process
The testing window for this initial phase spanned from February 19, 2024, to April 6, 2024, with the Human Resources Department (HRD) of the South Korean government declaring the results on April 9, 2024. This first phase is critical as it determines who progresses to the subsequent skill test, scheduled from April 21 to April 27, 2024, at the Nepal Administrative Training Institute in Jawalakhel.
Important Instructions for Candidates
Candidates moving on to the skill test phase are required to present their passports and admit cards. It's crucial to note that failing to appear for the skill test will result in disqualification from the process. Although passing the Korean language test is an essential step, it does not guarantee employment in Korea.
Enhanced Opportunities for Nepali Workers
The demand for Nepali workers in Korea has been on the rise, prompting the release of test results soon after completion. With Korea increasing the employment quota for Nepali workers in 2024, more job opportunities are expected this year. Previously, Korea recruited workers primarily for the agriculture, animal husbandry, and manufacturing sectors, but the scope has now expanded to include forestry, services, and root industry sectors.
Future Prospects and Planning
The EPS Korea aims to complete all three phases of testing by December 2024, selecting 16,400 candidates from a pool of 163,635 applicants. The selected candidates are set to be part of the employer selection process scheduled for June. As part of its strategic planning, Korea has pledged to incorporate more than 22,000 Nepali youths into their workforce this year, reflecting a significant increase from the previous quota.
